From Friends to Lovers

Friend Date

Grace's Pov

Two weeks have passed since I was sick and lets just say that I don't want to ever go through that again. I was out of work for a week and I stayed in bed the whole time, Nicole took care of me when she wasn't working and Chris even came over a few times to help take care of me as well. After I was feeling better me an Matt had a big talk about our relationship and he swore that he would change his ways because he didn't want us to break up.

To try an help me feel better Nicole decided to have a girls night just us, but I had suggested that Heather come as well because I missed my best friend. At first Nicole didn't want her to come which was weird, but she eventually gave in because I gave her my best puppy dog eyes. I'm setting up the food and stuff when Heather bust through my front door, "there's my bestie, I've missed you so much" she says hugging me. Nicole walks in the living an rolls her eyes, I look at her an mouth "behave," I really need to find out what happened with these two, but I will save that for another time.

After eating pizza, we are sitting on the floor with a movie on in the background, doing our nails and talking gossiping. I'm laughing at something Heather said when my phone dings telling me I had a message, I grab my phone an see that it's a text from Chris. Both of us have been really busy so we have barely talked in the last two weeks, which I hated because he had become a constant in my life in such as short time. 

Chris: Hey

Me: Hey! What's up?

Chris: Nothing much just sitting at the house with Dodger exhausted, wyd?

Me: Having a girls night with my sister an my best friend Heather.

Chris: I thought I was your best friend?

Me: You're my guy best friend, she's my girl best friend.

Chris: I know I just wanted to aggravate you.

Me: Don't be mean Christopher.

Chris: Uh oh your using my full name let me behave, don't want to get into trouble lol.

Me: Oh hush lol, I hate that we have been so busy I've missed our talks an stuff.

Chris: I've missed it to sweetheart, what are you doing tomorrow?

Me: Nothing why?

Chris: Be ready by nine, I will be there to pick you up.

Me: May I ask why?

Chris: Nope it's a surprise, enjoy the rest of your girls night I will see you on the morning sweet dreams Grace.

Me: Wait what do I need to wear?

Chris: Something casual

Me: Okay I will see you in the morning goodnight Chris.

"Okay who has you smiling like that?" my sister says "no one I was just reading something on Facebook is all." She looks at me an smiles "if you say so Grace" I just ignore her and go back to painting my nails. "So how are things going with Matt, are they getting any better?" My sister freezes for a second then goes back to eat her candy which I find weird but I let it go for now. "No not really, after we talked he was doing good for a few days but it didn't last, I have a feeling we won't last much longer which sucks because I really thought he could've been the one." I look over to my sister to tell her something so I don't see the smirk that Heather does.

I'm sleeping so good when my alarm goes off, "ugh cut that damn thing off it's to early," Heather says from the other end of the couch. I cut it off and head to my room to get ready for my day with Chris, I do a little bit of makeup and decide to wear some jean shorts and a cute flowy top paired with sandals. After I finish with that I see its only eight thirty so I head to the kitchen to make me some toast, I would eat more but I'm kind of nervous for today but I calm myself down. I just finished cleaning up my mess when my phone dings letting me know I have a text,

Chris: About to pull

I grab my purse and walk outside to see Chris already parked, I speed walk to his car because I'm ready to see him. "Hey" Chris says as I get into the car "hey stranger" I say looking at him then buckling up as he drives off. "So, Mr. Evans what are the plans for the day?" he smiles as he looks ahead "you'll see I promise your going to love it." Sighing "you're are killing me Chris," he laughs then looks at me "you look beautiful by the way." I turn to look out the window so that he don't see my blush "thank you." I sit there looking out the window not talking when he grabs my hand "is everything okay, your very quiet this morning."

I look at our hands, "yeah everything is fine, you just caught me off guard with calling me beautiful is all." At that he lets go of my hand and clears his throat "I'm sorry it just came out" shit now I made him feel bad. "It's fine Chris you didn't do anything wrong" I say as I grab his hand an give it a little squeeze, "if it makes you feel any better that color blue looks really good on you, it brings out your eyes."

Chris's Pov

As soon as she says that she looks back out the window, I just smile because I know how she can be shy about stuff. After a few minutes of comfortable silence we start talking about how crazy work has been, her relationship with Matt that is falling apart which don't surprise me any. We drive for about another twenty minutes till we make it to the first thing on my list "OH MY GOSH!!! Chris you remembered" she looks at me with the biggest smile on her face "of course I did, I always pay attention to you and what you say."

We wait in line so that I can pay while Grace takes a picture of the sign that says "Welcome to Madison Drive Through Safari." After I pay I drive to where they keep the rental jeeps, we get out the car then into the jeep and drive off to where the safari starts. All Grace can do is smile an point out all the different animals, we ended up feeding some zebras that came up to the jeep and a giraffe walks up to the jeep an sticks his head through the sunroof. Grace feeds him some of the leafs and is even able to pet his head a little. I take pictures of the whole interaction between the two an we keep going taking more pictures of animals that we see.

Grace's Pov

We finally get back to where he parked the car "do you want to eat here or go somewhere else?" Chris asks me checking to make sure we didn't leave anything in the jeep. "We can eat here, I only had some toast this morning so I'm starving," he agrees an we drive over to the restaurant that they have at the front. We go in and get seated off in a corner where it is a little more private "so did you have fun?" he asks looking at the menu "heck yeah I did, this is something I've been wanting to do since it opened last year so thank you it means a lot to me." He goes to say something but our waitress walks up to the table "my name is Kat an I will be your server today, what would you all like to drink? I see her look at Chris a little longer than needed "well I would like a Dr. Pepper," she writes it down an Chris says "I will take a coke." We go ahead an order our food an she then she walks off.

I look at Chris "she was definitely checking you out," he looks at me "really I didn't even notice" I go to pick at my nails "I don't see how you couldn't," I say under my breath. "Did you tell anyone what your plans where for the day?" I shake my head no "why not?" I think about it for a minute "to be honest I have no idea why I didn't, but I did text Nicole letting her know I would be out for the day."

After waiting a little longer our food comes so we eat while we talk "so are you taking me home after this?" he takes a sip of his drink "I had something else planned but if you want I can take you back home it's up to you." I shake my head no again "I'm not ready to go home I like spending time with you," he smiles "alright then, once your done we can head out." At that I start to clean up our mess an he helps, he pays then we walk back to his car "so is this also another surprise?" He looks at me "what do you think," I through my head back against the head rest being extra "of course it is" which makes him laugh as we drive off.
