Micah yawned, bringing his mind back to reality. He swept his wavy hair out of his eyes, sighing as he turned to focus on the lesson. Micah had dyed his hair light purple the summer before and his mother had grounded him for the rest of the summer. History, it was one of the boring lessons, but it could have been worse. Micah's favorite class was art, and he spent every free moment not spent in class, or on homework, drawing or painting.

As he tuned in and out of listening, Micah's eyes wandered to the cute new boy, Levi. Micah had talked to him a couple times but didn't really know him that well.

"Micah? Are you listening?" Ms. Trunbull demanded.

Ms. Trunbull was young. Dirty blonde hair, stunning green eyes, and porcelain skin. Which made it even more interesting that she was single.

"Yes Ms. Trumbull. Always." Micah replied, shaking his head and sending his purple hair cascading back away from his face.

"Good. Now for this project I will be assigning partners." Ms. Trunbull started passing around the project rubric. "Let's see...how about, Daisy and Lila for Team 1, and Micheal and Connor as Team 2."

All four started quietly cheering. Those four had been friends since 4th grade. All of them, and they usually got picked to be partners and in groups together.

As Ms. Trunbull listed the rest of the groups Micah stared out the window. He hoped he'd get one of his friends, like Cari, or Sam. The sunlight streamed in, warming his desk.

"And finally, Micah and..."

Micah looked up as the teacher said his name, waiting to find out who he would be forced to suffer with.

"Levi." Ms. Trunbull said, finishing the list.

"Huh, this should be interesting." Micah thought.

Turning to look at his newly appointed partner, Levi sent him a beaming smile. Micah's cheeks flushed bright red and he ducked his head down, cursing inwardly.

As Ms. Trunbull was explaining what the project was supposed to be about, Micah was dreading the end of class. He started rough sketching the classroom. Drawing usually calmed him down. There was still half an hour left of class.

The bell rang signaling the end of the day.

"Alright everyone! Don't forget to get started on your projects! Have a good weekend." Ms. Trunbull called after everyone as they left.

Micah grabbed his bag and headed towards the parking lot. He made it about halfway across the grassy quad when someone grabbed his hand.
