5.
Leodora paced her motel room anxiously. She downed a glass of whiskey, wincing as it burned her throat. She needed to do something; the emptiness of doing nothing was driving her insane.
She ran her fingers through her hair. Leo paused in front of a mirror, her hair was bedraggled, oily, and sticking out everywhere. Her eyes had bags under them. She should probably shower, it'd been awhile. She should probably sleep as well, but everytime she would close her eyes she'd get flashbacks to the time before Hell and during Hell.
Leo resigned into showering, rinsing the scum away from her skin and the oil from her matted hair. As she was getting out of the shower, Leo heard an odd noise. It was like the beating of wings.
Leodora desperately searched for some type of weapon -- she hadn't planned on being attacked during a shower. She wrapped her hand in a towel and punched the mirror. Leo burst out of the bathroom with a shard of broken glass in hand.
A man in a white collared shirt, a blue tie and a tan trench coat stood there. He had black hair and blue eyes.
"Who're you?!" She asked, her voice wavering despite her urging it not to.
"I am Castiel. I am an angel of the Lord. I gripped you tight and raised you from perdition," the man replied, completely ignoring her bareness.
"Why are you here?" Leo asked. He had spoken to her once before, but not in person. She pulled a towel over herself, keeping the glass shard at the ready.
"I have a job for you," Castiel told her, "I believe it is the kind that you tend to work. I have people for you to protect."
"No."
"You are a Protector, are you not?"
"Of the Luiseach. Not of random people," Leodora said defensively.
"They're not random, rather very important to the survival of the world. Besides, I do not see your Luiseach here."
"I just got out of Hell, if you hadn't noticed. I have no idea where Paige is. I don't know if she is safe, which is why I don't have the time to protect anyone else."
"Your ghost hunter will be perfectly safe as long as you do as we ask. We'll assign her a bodyguard until you find her again," Castiel told her, she scowled at him. She didn't want anyone protecting Paige other than her. That was a problem of their bond. A Luiseach and their protector had an extremely close bond, therefore she got really jealous when someone was doing her job.
"I want to see her."
"You will in due time. You will be protecting Sam and Dean Winchester."
"I've already met those two. They don't seem to need protection," Leodora loosened her grip on the broken mirror. If he was going to kill her, he'd have done it by now.
"They need it more than you know. Do as I ask, and the haunted sunshine girl will be fine," Castiel told her before the beating of wings were heard again and the angel disappeared.
Leodora groaned, and got dressed quickly. She would have to track them down. At least she had Dean's number.
A yawn escaped her lips, which surprised her. She hadn't been tired in a long while. Leodora shrugged it off and sat down at her computer. She began by using the usual programs for tracking a lost phone, nothing came up. She tried a bit more complex programs, and still nothing.
Eventually, her head dropped and her eyes closed.
There was a quaint, red cabin in the middle of the woods. She knew this place. It was dangerous.
There were screams coming from inside. Leodora sprinted toward it, her shotgun armed with rock salt cocked and ready. Paige and her mother were inside, hiding.
She burst through the front door, looking for what was terrorizing them. A man in black clothes with a hood was following them. Quickly, Leo aimed and fired, causing him to disappear briefly.
The pair ran outside to their car, leaving Leodora to fend for herself. Adrenaline was pulsing through her veins, her breathing was uneven. This was no ordinary ghost.
Paige and her mother, Kat, came back inside after a few long moments. She turned to them, "Why are you still here?"
"The car won't start," Paige answered quietly as Kat began dialing a number. "Roadside assistance," she told Leo at her pointed look.
After waiting even longer than before, they decided to try the car again. Kat walked outside as Paige and Leo waited anxiously. Paige bounced her leg as Leo pulled at her hair, her gun lying across her lap. Suddenly, the sound of the engine could be heard.
"Come on, we can go now!" Kat shouted from outside. The pair of them stood, Paige picked up her camera, she had a habit of documenting her paranormal adventures, and began walking outside.
"Oh, wait, I forgot my phone. I'll be right out!"
Leodora nodded and continued outside, turning back when her friend screamed. She ran back inside, Kat hot on her trail.
"What is it?"
"He was in there!" She squeaked.
"Well, the car started, so we can leave," Kat told her, silently urging her daughter to leave.
"I feel like he's still here. Like he wants to tell me something."
"So we're not leaving?" Her mom asked, looking defeated.
"It'll just be a second," Paige whispered and handed the camera to Kat. A thud emitted from the kitchen and Paige followed it. Suddenly, the door slammed behind her. Paige screamed.
"Sunshine!" Kat screamed her daughter's alias, they were pretty good about hiding her identity. However easy it was to find them.
Leo kicked the door open and flicked the light on. Paige was sitting in the corner on the floor, knees to her chest and whimpering.
"Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine. Let's just...let's just leave," she mumbled.
Leodora jolted awake, gasping. That was one of her earlier adventures with her closest friend. She rubbed the sleep from her eyes and sat back, he hadn't even been a ghost.
Leo glanced at the clock, reading 1:53. She figured she ought to get back to her assigned task. Leo sighed after about an hour of searching.
"Castiel," the beating of wings, "I don't know where they are," Leo turned to face him.
"Right. I forgot that you can't find people as easily as us," Leo handed him a piece of paper and a pen.
At his confused look, she sighed. "Write down where they are."
Castiel nodded and scribbled something down. When he finished, he handed her the paper. She glanced at it. It was a series of numbers. Leo raised an eyebrow, inspecting the numbers, running the possibilities of what they meant in her head.
Phone number? No, not enough digits. Address? No, it didn't translate to anything. Coordinates? No. Not complex enough. Wait. Coordinates? Yes.
Leodora looked up at the angel, "Thank you." And with that, he disappeared, leaving her to track down the Winchesters.
She sat down at her computer once more. It was now 3:00 am. Quickly, she typed in the coordinates. Upon discovering the location, Leodora packed her belongings and checked out of the motel. Sliding into her rental car and put it into gear.
She's found her adventure.
