Meeting Your Family

Ruby

Ruby was incredibly nervous to meet your family, she didn't want them to think she's childish (even though she kinda is), you assured her your family is very welcoming and will love her "all you need to do is be yourself Rubes, I promise they're going to love you" she took a deep breath and nodded. You take her hand in yours for extra reassurance and knock on the door. The door opens, and you're greeted by your father "(y/n)! you're finally here! and this must be the girlfriend you've been telling us about. Come in, come in!" He ushers you both through the door and into the living room where your mother and older brother are sitting and having a conversation. "Look who it is, dear! (y/n) and her girlfriend have come for a visit!" Your mother shot up from the sofa and embraced you in a tight hug then turned her attention to Ruby. "It's so good to see you darling, and this must be Ruby. It's a pleasure to meet you, dear. (y/n)'s told us a lot about you, and I must say you're as adorable as she said you were. " Ruby's cheeks slightly darkened at the compliment. "It's a pleasure to meet you too ma'am" Your brother stood from his place on the sofa and walked over and stood in front of Ruby. "Yeah, she's cute alright. too cute to be a huntress, can you really fight, or is that scythe all for show?" You didn't even realise she had brought crescent rose with her, but what do you expect? She's weapon crazed. "Don't do this (b/n), come on" you pinched the bridge of your nose in annoyance because he does this every time you bring someone home to meet your family, partner or friend. He always needs to challenge them to a fight as soon as he meets them, he says its because he wants to test if they're good enough to protect you, not that you need protecting, which is a nice thought but you think it's because he gets bored easily when he's not on huntsman missions and just wants to fight. "oh crescent rose definitely isn't just for show, I bet I could beat you and your awesome flail any day" aaaand of course she falls for the challenge, your brother leans down closer to Ruby until he's directly in her face. "Prove it," he says, smirking at her. "Bring it on!" she replies. They make their way out to the garden so there's enough space for them to go at each other, they both do little warm ups and stretches before they start "just so you know, I'm not going easy on you" Ruby readied crescent rose after finishing her stretches "same here".

your brother lay in the dirt, his weapon thrown to the side, utterly defeated. Ruby aimed her scythe at him, keeping him in place. "Damn! that scythe really wasn't just for show. I'm impressed. None of (y/n)s friends have ever been able to beat me before" Ruby offered her hand to help him up and he took it, she pulled him to his feet and he brushed himself off before putting his hand on her shoulder "well, for once I can say this, I like you, I think you're perfect for (y/n) and I know you'll keep her safe" Ruby flashed her adorable grin at him and nodded "of course, I would never let anything happen to her! I'd protect her with my life. " he nodded at he before turning his attention to you, "This ones a keeper (y/n)! don't mess it up. " You rolled your eyes and smiled as he passed you. Your parents ran over to her and started bombarding her with compliments on her fighting style and congratulating her on her victory. You caught her eye through the conversation and whispered, "I told you they would love you."

Weiss

You take Weiss to meet your father. You're a little nervous because you haven't come out to your father yet, but he's pretty open-minded, so that thought eases your worries a bit. You walk into the house, and your dad is sitting in his favourite chair reading a book. "Hey dad," he looks up from his book and his eyebrows raise in happy surprise when he sees you "(y/n)! how are you? to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit? I wasn't expecting you home for a while. " he stands from his chair and comes over and gives you a hug. He notices Weiss standing behind you and asks, "And who is this? you rarely ever bring friends with you" you grab Weiss' hand and pull her towards you so she's stood beside you, he sees you don't let go of her hand and patiently waits for you to talk. "Well, she's part of the reason why we're here, actually. I won't beat around the bush. I'll just say it. Dad...I'm gay...and Weiss is my girlfriend" You both wait for his response in suspense, the silence is making your heart beat loudly in your ears, but it all comes to a stop when your father brings his hand up to his face and pinches the bridge of his nose. "(y/n)...are you serious...I already knew" to say you were shocked was an understatement, you could barely get the words out as you tried to ask how he knew. "I've known since you were little (y/n), every time I tried to joke around with you and tell you you were never getting a boyfriend you always said you didn't want one and that girls are so much prettier. You even made your dolls kiss each other and pretend they were married. " You felt your cheeks grow hot at the embarrassing memory. Did he really have to say that in front of Weiss?! you gripped Weiss' hand even tighter and asked him, "So, you're not mad or disappointed?" he brought you into a gentle but warm embrace and reassured you that all he wants is for you to be happy, it doesn't matter who you love and he'll support you no matter what "I'm honestly offended that you thought I'd be disappointed in you, and that it took you so long to tell me. I'll always be here to love and support you, both of you" he pulled Weiss into an unexpected hug "welcome to the family sweetheart" this made Weiss tear up and burst into tears, she hugged your father back and held onto him tight. You were a little surprised that Weiss allowed herself to be vulnerable in front of anyone else other than you, but you're happy she was able to do it with your father. when he noticed her tears, he asked if Weiss felt supported in her own family considering her reaction. You explained, with Weiss' permission, that her own father is very against her being with someone of the same sex and everything he's tried to keep her away from it, even arranged marriages. Your father was furious upon hearing this. You could see a vein bulging on his forehead. That's how angry he was. He vowed to throttle him and teach him love and respect for his daughter. "It's okay, sir, but why would you do that for me?" asked Weiss. "Because you're family now, Weiss, and that's what a father does."
