NEW ARRIVAL
(present day)

The girl leaned against the railings, gazing upon the vibrant and silent town.

She hummed softly, closing her eyes as she felt the morning breeze brush against her skin.

It was certainly very cold in the mornings compared to the warm afternoons.

The sun casted an ethereal glow above Encanto, the peaceful and vibrant atmosphere returning like it would any day.

She watched as a few people began to head out of their homes. Greeting eachother as they passed through the streets.

Slowly and eventually, the place was filled by the people. Each going around, minding their own business as she watched.

Minutes passed by, and she decided to head back into her room. She turned and stepped inside, closing the door behind her once she left the balcony.

Rumi stared into the mirror, sliding a few rings onto her fingers.

The door swung open, revealing Ren standing there. "Mama's calling you downstairs." He says as he leaned against the frame, eating away at his sandwich.

"Alright." Rumi muttered quietly. "Why are you still here?" She questioned in a gentle voice, too tired to put up a front.

"Right, my bad." He answers calmly and sarcastically, rolling his eyes before heading out of the room.

She sighed and shook her head disapprovingly before standing up.

Taking one last glance in the mirror before heading out the bedroom and downstairs where she was greeted with 'Good mornings' from her parents and the delicious smell of breakfast waiting for her.

"It smells really good down here, what's for breakfast?" She asked as the woman turned to hand her a glass of juice which Rumi happily took.

"Why don't you take a look instead?" Adrianne answered sarcastically before laughing as she led her daughter to her chair.

Ren snorted at this, causing Rumi to look up and glare at him. "That's your brother, don't look at him like that." Adrianne patted Rumi's shoulder, brushing the hair out of her face before sitting beside her husband.

"Come on, dear." Adrianne carefully took the newspaper out of his hands as he slowly lifted his head to look at her.

"What?" Martin asked, blinking a few times out of confusion. "You must've zoned out again, but It's fine. You just have to eat something love." Adrianne set the paper aside and grabbed his sandwich, lifting it up to his lips.

Rumi and Ren argued back and forth against each other, glaring, rolling their eyes, scoffing, and everything else siblings would do to each other when they fought.

"Both of you should eat now! You are in front of food. Do not be so disrespectful." Adrianne glared at her children, causing both of them to huff and eat.
