"How could they!" Dalia screams while throwing a pillow to the bed. "Are they insane? Did they think we would never find out?!"

I'm frozen.

I can feel the smooth paper between my fingertips confirming it's not a dream or a figment of my imagination. I scan the paper again and see my name right at the top. On top of

This can't be happening

"Estos malditos hijos de su buena madre, who do they think they are doing this?!" Dalia continues ranting she's fully accepted this but this can't be.

"This can't be" I finally say, Dalia looks at me. "This isn't Derek, he hates all of this fraternity stuff you know that he's not into all of this" I wave my hands around "he's never been into this"

She walks towards me and softly grabs my hand that holds the list up to our faces. "This. Is. Real" three words, but I refuse to believe it. "And I'm going to get answers NOW" her eyes are determined, she lets me go and starts heading towards the door.

"Wait Dalia!" I grab her hand before she can go. "If this is true..." I still don't believe it "they won't admit it, they hid this from us for months. They will make something up and we will never find out the truth" Dalia looks at me and her eyes are a mix of rage, fear, and now sadness. I know a part of her wants this to be false just as much as I do, she doesn't want to believe Diego would do this, it would crush her.

"Okay, then what do we do?" She says in a low shaky voice. People are used to seeing Dalia as the strong fierce force to be reckoned with, which she is, but I get glimpses into her raw self. The sometimes small and scared parts of her. I have to take control now and make a plan.

There's suddenly knocking at the door

"Hey girls you decent?"

"It's Diego" Dalia whispers in a panicked voice and looks at me.

"We have to act normal okay, do you hear me?" I say quickly in a hushed tone.

"No, Diego we're still getting ready!" I shout back

"Ok, just wanted to let you know that we're back. Dalia I'm really sorry about leaving you with the mess but I brought you your favorite! Chocolate covered raisins so that you'll forgive me" He says in a sweet apologetic voice.

Dalia closes her eyes and I can see the pain, it's all over her face.

When she doesn't answer I quickly reply "Oh Diego she's in the bathroom but we will be out soon and you can do that apology again because she definitely needs to hear it after dealing with that mess" I try to sound light and fun, it's excruciating.

"Noted, thanks Kay see you downstairs" he says and I hear footsteps getting farther away.

"Thank you" Dalia says.

"No worries, now this won't be easy but we have to go to the party and act like none of this happened until we can figure something out. The guys can't sense anything is wrong.  Is that okay? Can you handle that?" I ask her.

"Yes" she straightens up "I got this, wouldn't be the first time we fake it till' we make it right?" She forces a laugh. I hate that she's so right about that.

"Ok, perfect then we'll spend enough time at the party, then tell them we don't feel well and head back to the apartment. Now give me your list" Dalia hands me Diego's list and I take a picture of it as well as Derek's. "Let's put them back where they were and head out." She nods, her eyes are determined, we got this I tell myself, everything will be okay I try to convince myself of this.
