I sat across from Cameron at the table, and I averted my eyes to the plate Sigma made up for me. I push the food around with my fork with a bored expression, dreading every moment I sat here in the stone cold silence filling the stuffy Georgia air.
"Cienna. Eat." Alina ordered quietly from beside me in her dining room chair.
I glare at her from the corners of my eyes and put a small bite of steak into my mouth, stupid tasty steak. I say to myself. I put another small bite in my mouth, and pretend like its nothing special, or the best food I’ve ever ate.
"So Cienna, since your Cameron’s mate when will you be moving in?" Sigma says casually eating at the head of the table. I swallow the food slowly, okay if it was silent before it is most definitely silent now. Every boy that was eating at the table with us looked at me, chewing their food slowly.
"I’m not leaving my house, and don’t call him that!" I yell.
"Do you have a problem with word mate?" He asks me harshly.
Cameron jumped into the conversation.
"Dad she hates the word, she would prefer you call it spaghetti."
I face him, "You aren’t in this conversation." I turn back to Sigma. "Yes I have a problem with the word mate! I have a problem with the general term of mate!" I hiss.
"Accept that the two of you are meant to be together." Sigma says turning back to his plate of food.
"No!" Me and Cameron yell at him together. Sigma looks up from his steak, and nods his head pointing his fork at us.
"Why do you have a problem with it?" He asks me.
"Because it’s no different than an arranged marriage! I’m not going to marry or spaghetti with anybody other than whom I choose! Not you. Me."
Sigma looks at Cameron, "What about you?" He asks.
Cameron’s eyes went wild, thunder seemed to be striking and lighting clashing. "Because I don’t want a mate who is going to take me for granted," he whipped his head around to look at me "And I don’t want her." He growled.
"I don’t want you." I say back staring him in the eyes.
"Wow you guys are so meant for each other!" Derone says laughing/ we both glare at him.
"What?" He says looking at us, shrugging his shoulders. "It doesn’t matter what a black guy thinks no more?" He asks.
"I should have broke your neck." I Mutter to Derone.
He smiles, "I wish you did so I didn’t have to see you two fall in love with each other like this. We all see it even if you don’t! You two are destined to be completely miserable together."
"Derone is thinking exactly what I’m thinking." Sigma says, chewing his steak.
"And what would that be?" I mutter rudely.
"That you two are so perfect for each other." Sigma says.
I snort, and pick up the knife beside my plate and stab the steak in front of me and cut it into big pieces. I shove a piece in my mouth and scowl. Stupid steak.
"So when are you moving in?" Sigma presses. I threw my fork down on the table making a loud clicking noise.
"I’m not f*cking moving in!" I yell throwing my arms up. "I’m not moving in, I’m not going to mate with your son, marry him or have his puppies!" I yell at him, as well as everyone else.
"And I'm not having her move in here with us! I’ve seen her enough in the past few days to last a lifetime, and I don’t want to mate with her either, marry her, or watch her have my cute adorable puppies!" He took a deep breath and looked at his father with a more peaceful expression.
