    Jake's POV

"How much link time have you logged?" Grace asked Norm as she leads us to the links.
"About 520 hours," Norm replies back.
"That's good." Grace said as she stopped walking. "You're in there. You're here." She points to two links for me and Norm.
"How much have you logged?" She then asked me as we make our way to my link.
"Zip. But I read a manual." I say honestly as I look at the inside of the link pod.
"Tell me your joking." Grace says clearly annoyed. I mean I can't blame her.
"This is cool," I said poking my finger into the foam bedding thing in the link pod trying to brighten the mood, Grace just stares at me annoyed though. I then start to push myself up into the pod. Grace comes over and starts to help me push over my legs.
"Don't. I got this," I tell her. She just puts her hands up and walks over to some kind of device for the link. I then lift both my legs onto the padding.
" 'sighs' So you just figured you'd come out here, to the most hostile environment know to man, with no training of any kind, and see how it went? What was going through your head."Grace asked.
"Maybe I was sick of doctors telling me what I couldn't do." I answered, though Grace just looked back at me. She just walks over to me and pushes me down onto the padding.
"Keep your arms in, hands in," She says starting to pull a metal thing over my upper body. I put my head up to look at it more.
"Head down." She pushes my head down along with the metal thing. I put up my head again just for her to push it down hard but not to hard. "Down. Just relax and let your mind go blank. That shouldn't be hard for you," she said closing the lid to the link.I chuckled.
"Kiss the darkest part of my lily white," I say as the link closes fully. I could feel it starting to move forward slowly. I looked around the best I could, I then closed my eyes and relaxed. Not even a second later I saw a hole bunch of bright colors flash before my eyes.

I then started to open my eyes, I couldn't see though it was all blurry. My eye sight then started to come together as I saw a women and a man with a breathing mask on hovering over me. The woman the spoke up,
"He's in. Jake can you hear me?" The man next to her then put a flashlight up to my yes and moved it around the said,
"Pupillary reflex is good." The woman the snapped her fingers in front of my ears and said,
"Pinnacle response normal. How you feeling, Jake?"
"Hey, guys." I say as they help me sit up.
" 'chuckles', Welcome to your new body, Jake," says the male.
"Good," the woman says.
"Yeah,we're gonna take this nice and easy, Jake." the male says again but I pay no attention as I move my fingers around and finish sitting up properly. "Nice and slow, Jake."
"Okay, well, no truncated ataxia, that's good. Are you feeling lightheaded or dizzy at all," one of the doctors asked me as I wiggle my toes. "You're wiggling your toes!" Says the same doctor.
"Good. Good, Jake. That's great." Said the other doctor. All I could do was stare and gasp out of amazement. The doctors kept talking but I wasn't paying attention as I started to stand up.
"Woah" I gasp. I start to trip I could hear the doctors telling me to sit down and that I should wait till I'm used to the avatar body to stand but I didn't care I was to excited that I'm finally using my legs again. I start to walk and woah this feels amazing but hen I get pulled back by the cords on me which I take off the moment I turn around and trip towards the windo that max is at on the other side.
"Jake. Come on. Jake listen to me," Max says to me from the other side of the window. "You're not used to your avatar body. This is dangerous."
"This is great." I say to max before I turn towards the door to the outside.
"Come on. They're gonna put you out." Norm says with panic in his voice but I only laugh and start walking towards the door. As I open the first door I hear the doctors yelling for me to come back but I don't listen. When I step out side the first thing that stuck out was 2 avatars playing basketball. I start heading forward, a little wonky but I didn't fall so that's good. In the distancei could hear Norm telling me to come back but I kept going forward. My jog started to become a full run running at a non-human speed. As I was running I saw obstacle thingys for the avatars to use. As I was crossing a path thing a robot came out of nowhere almost killing me but I kept running. There were plants growing in the soil I was running on. I soon slid and stoped running catching my breath looking all around taking in the true beauty around me. I dug my feet into the soil when I heard Grace.
"Hey, marine."
"Damn," I say quietly. "Grace?" I asked as she keeps walking towards me.
"Well, who'd you expect numbnuts? Think fast" she says as she threw a fruit at me. I quickly caught it. "Motor controls looking good." I bit into the fruit and Damn is that good. I could feel some of the juices go on me but I ignored it. I couldn't help but chuckle as Grace. chuckles back.

"Come on, everybody, quiet down!" Grace said as she walked into the cabin where all the avatars stay at night. "All right, gang, lights out. Come on, Louise, chop-chop. Hey, hey, hey! Don't play with that, you'll go blind." Grace said as she walked by me.
"That's kind of freaky." I say interested in it. Last thing I heard before I left the avatar body that is now mine is Grace saying,
"Lights out! See you at dinner, kiddies." After that I heard a creature screech but didn't think much of it and closed my eyes. When I opened my eyes I saw the door to the link being opened. I heard Max say,
"Welcome back." I got my upper body up and moved my wheelchair close to the link and got on it. "You okay? You alright?" Asked Max.
"Yeah I'm alright." I responded back

"I'm Trudy. I fly all the science sorties. And this here is my baby." Said a woman whose name is apparently Trudy. "Hold on a second." She said fixing some on here helicopter. "Hey, Wainfleet! Get it done!" She said to a guy who I remember seeing when I first got here.
"Yeah, I'm on it, captained!" He said fixing the placement of a gun. Trudy then jumped off of the helicopter and started leading me somewhere.
"You guys are packing some heavy gear." I say as a cart comes out of no where almost hitting me.
"Watch it!" Trudy yells at the person controlling the cart. "Yeah, that's cause we're not the only thing flying around out there. Or the biggest. I'm gonna need you on a door gun. I'm a man short."
"Thought you'd never ask." I say sarcastically.
"There's your man. See you on the flight line." She says as we stop and fist bump before she leaves. I start wheeling into the room where colonel was in lifting waits weights.
"You wanted to see me, Colonel?"

Hey, author here, sorry for not posting for a while but I had a lot of homework I had to do and all, but here's part 2. Hopefully part 3 will be out later this week. I also got lazy to write jakes and colonels talking scene so sorry bout that. Have a good day/night!
