I stare at my parents whilst I await the news that will change my life. "Mr and Mrs Hilton, i think Alicia has waited long enough don't you?" my dad begins to move slowly in his seat until both of my parents are facing me. "Alicia we are truly sorry but...well, Ive lost my job.." he says it slowly and my mum puts a supportive arm round me.This was not what I was expecting, I mean its bad news and all, but i still dint understand how it will affect me. my mother takes over from my father with the talking. "baby, we are so sorry to do this to you...but with your father not having an income at the moment we just cant afford all the luxuries we have in life at the moment..we will have to sell the house, and move somewhere smaller, and..and move you to another school, I mean a normal school." she says the word normal as though its a bit of mud on the bottom of her red patent jimmy choo's. I stare at them both  in utter amazement, they must be kidding me... I cant move, all of my friends are here, and what about GCSEs? I have already chosen my options, and ill be starting them in September. I want to scream, but my throat is dry, I want to tell them that I hate them.

I hate them all. but all I can do is cry. the tears fall down my cheeks and i get up to leave when someone stops me. " Alicia, wait headmistress justice has a anouncement..." she nods towards her whilst pulling me back to my chair. "Alicia, every three years we hold an exam, three people who do exceptionally well in the exam, win a scholarship to this school. Now i have spoken to the board of governers, and we have agreed that you can go through with the exam. we know you well and you have been a dedicated  head girl to this school, the exam will take place in five months time. " oh my gosh! "thankyou thankyou thankyou!! so much!" i guess every cloud has a siver lining, now all  have to do is get through five months of torture and my life will be back on track...
