[spoilers for season 3]
"CHRISTOPHER!" His voice was barely a rasp after walking around and screaming for an hour straight.
The water was still knee deep and debris still floated around. "Christopher.." he groaned.
I can't die here. I have to make it home. For Eddie and Chris. I can't betray Eddie's trust. I love him too much.
The pain in his leg was rising from the surgeries he had a few months prior. He stifled sobs in his throat. He dragged his leg behind him as he tried to run. He searched around until glasses intertwined with palm leaves caught his eye. Christopher's glasses.
He can't see without his glasses. Oh god what have I done..
He stumbled towards the leaves and struggled to get the glasses out. He pulled the strap loose and threw them over his neck.
He pulled himself together and kept walking.
[2 hours later]
The sun was setting but it was still bright.
"Hey there's a kid under here!" A lady yelled.
"Christopher?" He whispered while running over.
"Hey big guy, you and me! Cmon!"
They lifted everything off but something caught Bucks arm causing it to bleed. The bleeding was extremely bad from the blood thinners he was on.
It wasn't Chris. He let out a sigh and asked. "Hey have you seen a kid? He's 8, always smiling, he's got CP- Cer-cerebral palsey"
"Yeah he was headed on with a group over to that cupcakery place"
"Thank you!" He said while jogging away.
It was dark now. Buck was nearly giving up hope on finding Chris. He spotted a lady at the VA hospital.
"Hey-Hey! I'm looking for a Christopher Diaz, he's 8- may-maybe 9."
"Diaz... nope not here. You may wanna check over at the black tent. Excuse me."
The morgue. Buck was about to walk over until he saw Eddie. He asked for someone's phone and hid while dialling Maddie's number. "Hello?"
"Maddie, it's Buck."
"Buck where are you calling from? I don't recognise this number.."
"Eddie dropped Chris off with me this morning. He thought that spending sometime with him would get me out of my apartment.. out of my head. And it worked but Maddie-" he stopped to let out a sob. "I took him to the pier.."
"Oh my god. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine but Chris is gone."
"Okay Evan I'm coming down there. You can't look for him yourself."
"No- Maddie!"
She hung up. He walked away forgetting Eddie was there. "Buck?"
Buck stopped in his tracks. "Buck are you okay? Where's Chris?"
"Eddie. We were at the pier. I had him Eddie.. I had him! But then the water receded and.. he fell.. I am so sorry Eddie-" he sobbed.
"Christopher?" Eddie said
"Chris!"
"Dad!"
Eddie grabbed Chris and hugged him.
"You're Buck?"
"No I'm his father, Eddie."
Eddie hugged him once more before handing him over to Bobby.
"Buck.." he said while running up to him.
Eddie kissed him. "I love you" Buck said wearily before collapsing into Eddie's arms and fainting.
"Buck? We need a gurney over here!" He shouted to his team.
"Is that? Buck!" Bobby yelled to him.
They got him on the gurney and into the VA hospital.
"Okay, pulse is 120/80 and bp is good! He should be alright to leave after a day." The doctor said.
Eddie sighed in relief. He couldn't handle losing another person.
"Also, he's awake now if you want to see him"
Eddie got up and rushed to his room. "Hey handsome" Buck groaned.
"Hey," Eddie said before kissing him.
"I love you too"
