(WARNING. Blood and gore severely mentioned in this chapter. )

I hear screaming, some people even started puking, the boy is fighting frantically to get Mr. Hawke off him, but the amount of blood there was. I'm guessing he hit a jugular. Some kids, I'm guessing the boy's friends tried to pull Mr. Hawke off him, but instead got attacked. People rushed out of the classroom and into the hall, not taking any chances. I stared at the scene in front of me. I can't move my body.

Move.

My eyes started watering.

MOVE.

Scarlett was in front of me, shaking me by my shoulders, but I couldn't hear her. So instead of trying to snap me out of my state, she drags me by my hand and into the hall.

The hallway was filled with blood and people attacking each other. Some people run for the exits but are blocked off by the sick people.

What's happening?!

One guy was on the floor, holding a sick person's head so he wouldn't get bitten. Wait, I know him. So familiar... Then it hit me.

Silas.

That got my ass in gear, I ran over as fast as I could, Scarlett trailing behind me. I grab the sick person's collar and pull with all my might, tearing the student away from Silas. The sick student's arm flared, reaching for Silas, but before he could regain his grip on him, Silas stood fast. "Let's go!" He yelled before running to the side exit, dodging the crazy sick student on the floor.

We burst from the doors, and into the outside and of course, there were crazy people outside. We ducked behind these blue disgusting dumpsters and scanned our surroundings. I finally let out a breath. "What the fuck is happening!" My scream hushed into a whisper.

"Shut up." Silas silenced me.

Silas scans the parking lot, scraping his brain for a plan.

"Uh, if it isn't obvious already, zombies." Scarlett whispered.

Nobody said anything because we knew she was right. There's no other explanation for this.

The side doors burst open, I flinched and tripped over my own foot, causing me to fall back into Silas. Silas catches me, while still staying alert to who came out the doors. He has me tight under his arm while his other is braced out in front of him, ready to attack. Harvey and Josephine stand there, they look petrified, eyes wide, Harvey's shirt is covered in blood. Students run from the open door and past Josephine and Harvey. We all stood there staring at each other for at least five seconds before Scarlett reached for their shirts to pull them into hiding.

The students that exited the school were soon attacked by the infected outside. Some managed to get in their cars and drive off.

Silas had his arm around me protectively, I'm not complaining though. I'm completely terrified. I have his shirt bunched up between my fingers.

Josephine was crying. "He almost bit me!" She cried. "What's happening!" She wiped her face to clear her tears.

"Let's just focus on getting out of here." Silas's deep voice almost caused me to jump.

"How are we getting out of here?" I whispered.

Harvey put his hand to his heart. "My brother drove here- "He wiped the blood off his face. "His keys are inside his locker on the second floor, locker 210."
