Chapter 12: Debut incoming

"The phantom mayhem was caused by an equipment failure. But if you slack off, it will happen again! So keep on your toes! Dismissed!"

The star bearer spoke up then rang the bell after dismissing everyone to their work.

"Ehehehe! Did you see how disappointed Barbie looked?"

Mia spoke.

"Rose and I know nothing about the soot processing equipment. The Star Bearers handle that. Barbie must've been sleeping on the job. Well done Emilico."

Emilico took out the map and showed the others.

"Exchanging letters with you helped."

Mia turns to Emilico and smiles wide.

"I never expected a handmade doll as your reply. Thank you."

"I still can't write very well, so I let my sewing do the talking."

Rosemary takes out her watch and checks the time.

"It's about time to return to our rooms."

"So it is. We must hurry. Goodbye!"

Mia was the first to leave as she ran away.

"I really enjoyed that."

Arriving she crawls inside her room.

The horrifying scene greets her.

Soots everywhere and even hand prints.

On the table.

On her bed.

On her desk.

"Mistress Sarah."

The doll on her desk was ripped off. The head was close to the body as shredded papers that was what remains of a letter scattered in the wooden table.

"The debut is tomorrow?!"

Emilico screams out.

"You've been so busy. There was no chance to tell you. And we couldn't study together."

Kate informs the living doll as Emilico makes a sad face.

"Will you make that face at the debut?"

Kate turns away from Emilico.

"You need not clean anymore today. Go to bed now."

"But...!"

"Your job right now is to sleep."

"Yes, ma'am. Good night."

As Emilico was pushing the door to her room she was stopped immediately by the now sitting Kate.

"Wait."

"Come here."

Emilico follows through with the order.

"Laugh."

"Huh?"

Emilico was clearly confused.

"Hahahahaha!"

Emilico burst out laughing.
