Thank you Eliza!!!
A few days later, the second leg of the quarterfinals is taking place. Those last couple of days have been absolutely perfect. Calm and pleasant. Different to the previous ones, simply a bit more peaceful.
Until now.
While Alexia was beaming with motivation and was so ready to kick PSG's ass today at Camp Nou, Erin was either unlucky or simply had bad karma.
It all started with the fact that her alarm didn't go off in the morning. Alexia got up early and took Nala out for a walk. It was always something which helped her relax on the morning of a match day.
With headphones plugged in and listening to her favorite music, the Barcelona captain managed to start into the day much better than her wife.
Because as Erin descended the stairs, fumbling with the tie of her silk robe and her eyes barely opened, she almost tripped on the final step, but managed to hold herself up by the banister.
Following the first hint of bad luck, the blonde decided to prepare coffee and a nice breakfast, to welcome the Ballon D'Or winner when she returns home from her morning walk.
Just as she is about to reach for her favorite coffee mug, she is startled by her phone going off on the kitchen counter, causing her to drop the mug and the porcelain shatters into a million pieces.
Fantastic.
This was the next thing that went wrong. But that shouldn't have been the end of the story.
"Morning", the blonde hisses into the phone, not paying attention to who called her, as she kneels down to collect the shards of her destroyed favorite cup.
Bummer.
"Good morning, sis... why so grumpy?", a male voice replies, whereupon the blonde straightens up and is startled once again, as she realizes who was on the other end.
Her brother.
"Oh... I'm sorry, Austin... long time no hear", the blonde chuckles nervously, trying to remember how many weeks had passed since she last talked to her brother.
"Right... I wanted to check on my favorite sister since we haven't talked in a while. Any news?", the older brother asks interested, his lovely English accent bringing a smile to Erin's lips.
And that may have been the last time that happened today.
Because after tossing the fragments of her favorite coffee mug into the trash, Erin gets back up to reach for another mug, and bumps her head on that stupid, opened cabinet door.
Who the hell left that one open?
"Damn piece of shit! Um... sorry... nothing special, actually. What about you, Aus?", Erin lies, not in the mood to inform her brother about the latest news regarding hers and Alexia's marriage.
But perhaps it would be better to save that for when they see each other again.
Such news should not be delivered over the phone.
"You're in a miserable mood. Thought the Spanish sun was gonna make you shine... but well. There's nothing special happening here either... I'll be traveling to Spain in a couple of weeks. That's actually the reason I'm calling. How about we meet at your house? I wanna check out that house the club bought you", the older sibling demands, causing Erin to look around, aware that the moment he enters her house and walks up the staircase, he'll realize that those Ballon D'Or trophies don't belong to Erin.
Because obviously they didn't.
"Um... yeah right. When exactly?", the blonde wonders, while grabbing a bunch of oranges from bowl for their daily dose of vitamin C, peeking at her watch and quickly realizing that Alexia should be back soon. Just then a barking is heard outside, announcing their arrival.
