Happy Birthday!

When Erin got back home about an hour later, having returned earlier than she expected, she was surprised to find the lights downstairs still switched on.

She sneaked inside, well aware that her wife was either still moving around the house to pack or simply passed out on the couch.

But neither of her assumptions were correct.

Knowing this, Erin could only pray for Alexia to be in a better mood by now, or at least calmed down a bit.

Instead, the therapist was shocked to find Alexia crouched in the small space between the staircase and the kitchen, curled up in the corner with her hood pulled over her head.

"Hola", was all Alexia said, her voice faint as the blonde shut the door and placed her keys in the small bowl beside it, her eyes on Aleixa as she slowly approaches her.

It didn't take Erin long to realize what had happened here.

Her stomach turned immediately.

Glancing around, she discovered all the little yellow sticky notes scattered across the floor, drawers ripped open, and her documents and paperwork on the sideboard.

"What... what have you done? Where's... no. Please don't...", Erin panics, her eyes wide as she proceeds to the sideboard, searching the now disorganized drawers and stacks of papers.

The therapist opened more drawers, looked through the usually so meticulously organized stacks of papers, but sighed in frustration when she couldn't find what she was looking for.

And that could only mean one thing.

Erin swallows and ducks her head in embarrassment, feeling Alexia's gaze on her from behind. Her wife's broken voice made Erin realize she'd been right with her apprehension.

"I bet that's what you're looking for", Alexia murmurs in a surprisingly calm voice.

The captain's faint voice causes Erin to turn on her heels, her eyes growing wide as she realizes what Alexia was holding up.

No. This couldn't be.

"Ale... I... damn", Erin sighs, pressing her lips together as she reaches for the passport, but the athlete was quick enough to yank it away, unwilling to give it back that easily.

The blonde nods in understanding.

She takes a deep breath, aware that she won't be able to get out of this cycle of explanation anytime soon. So Erin takes off her jacket and then sits down on the floor, facing Alexia, with her back resting against the sideboard.

"So...", Erin breathes, looking up to discover puffy, hazel eyes already staring at her intensely.

"So?", Alexia demands, but her voice turned out to be a lot softer and smoother than the therapist had expected.

"I... you know... you shouldn't see this. Or... all those things, honestly. Well... not yet", the blonde mumbles and a soft chuckle escapes her lips as she tries to downplay her nervousness.

She diligently collects the sticky notes, looks at them and organizes them in the correct chronological order.

"When were you... how and... why didn't you tell me?", Alexia asks, her eyes fixed on Erin as she puts the passport aside and shifts a little closer, their feet touching.

The blonde shrugs her shoulders, places her hands in her lap, and sits with her legs crossed, avoiding to meet Alexia's intense gaze.

"I wanted... this was supposed to happen in a completely different way, you know. It really wasn't meant to be revealed like this", Erin tries, sighing in frustration as she stares at the passport, before her gaze wanders upwards, finally meeting Alexia's gaze.
