I had heard about air cadets from an assembly. You didn't hear this from me, but it was interesting. I thought about going for weeks and finally decided to go (thanks to my dad).
I didn't know what to expect when I showed up at 2450 Squadron, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Everyone was so nice it was kinda creepy. There were more people than I expected, and there were people from my school. That made me feel more nervous.
We watched the older cadets and corporals do drill. I was watching a corporal he was amazing at it. When they finished we all went inside.
I got my cadet name, it's cadet Miller. It's so strange being called by my last name, I'd rather be called Ann. It took a while to get used to it.
We got shown around the building and did some team-building exercises. I spoke to people (I'm really surprised).
All of us went into a room and watched a presentation given by the guy that I watched. He was so confident, and I loved his voice. His name is Wood. He has braces, and they're blue, my favourite colour, he suits them. Anyway, then we had a break. It was nice but crowded. Everyone was on their phones, so I decided to blend in. I scrolled on Pinterest and added stuff to my boards. The break lasted for half an hour. Everyone bought coke and stuff. I'm too shy for that, and corporal was at the hatch, so I couldn't bring myself to do it. The break ended, and everyone went into classroom one. Corporal continued with his presentation. He was talking about what they do and what skills you get to learn.
After that, we all went outside to do drill again. The older cadets said the second time it's called parade (that's confusing). Corporal was shouting the commands. I was too busy admiring his voice than listening, but I got the hang of drill after a while when I snapped out of it. It's quite fun. Everyone else disagrees. One of the staff members kept looking at me. I think it's because I had a massive smile on my face.
After drill, I went home. On the way, my dad was asking if I liked it. (My dad used to be in the army, but he hurt himself, so he had to quit). I said yes, and for the rest of the journey, we were singing rock songs. I was 'butchering' my immortal by Evanescence. My dad turned it up to hide my "horrible" singing. I think I sounded like an angel.
When I got home, I had to go straight to bed. It sucked and it still does.
