~Jasmine's POV~

"The sounds of guns firing filled the air, people dying left and right. This was a great war set in 1987. But that very war shaped the rest of the world....literally. A young man, described as being "Scrawny" separated the earth into two halves. Mitara and Kinra. The young man was caught fighting in the war as well. But he was attacking both parties. It was stated that he had abilities that no one else was capable of. These powers were given to Kinra....leaving Mitara with nothing."

After the lesson about the history of the two sides. The school bell rang to instruct us to leave. It's September, so walking home was a slight struggle. The winds here on Mitara's side of the earth are very harsh. Well pretty much everything here is harsh. The streets littered with trash and other junk. The atmosphere was pretty gloomy and negative vibes just filled the air.

I got home, took my medicine then started on my homework. I had to paint a landscape which wasn't so hard. Painting is the few things that I'm actually good at. Other than that everything else was a pain to try to achieve.

Some time passed, not too sure how much since I was so caught up in the painting. But the sound of glass breaking broke my concentration. Heading down my creaking stairs, I walked into the kitchen and there it was. A pile of glass shards right beside the counter. It looked to be like someone knocked over a cup, but there wasn't anyone around. My mom's bedroom door is still closed, the only times it's only ever open is when she's at work. And my dad resigned on the couch, still sleeping despite the loud noise. It's probably the tv playing in the background drowning out the sound. I began cleaning the glass, when my dad woke up.

"Damn it June!" my name's Jasmine.. "God I ain't got all the money in the world for you to go around breaking the damn dishes!"

I heard my mom's door swing open, "I know damn well you ain't talking. All you do is lay on that couch and leave me to do everything!"

They kept going back and forth, and at this point I've just learnt to tone them out. I finished cleaning the glass off the ground and then left the house as my parents had gotten up in each other's faces still yelling.

I walked to the one place where I felt at peace, the woods. I walked through, stepping on every leaf i could. Some would make the crunch sound while others were a disappointment. I soon came up to a very old and big tree. It lived in the center of the woods, and it's possibly the oldest tree here too. It was said that after the world had split this was the only thing left on Mitara. While many people have their doubts I sorta believe it, Mitara is a shitty place and I'd do anything to leave. Now i could go to the southern side but there's no way i'd make it. My parents don't give me an allowance, honestly they don't give me much other than food, that i have to cook for myself, and a roof over my head. And if I had a penny for every time they said that id have more than both of their salaries combined.

I approached the tree and sat down laying my head on the bark. I stared at the leaves as the light from the sun shined on them and the moon slowly began to rise. I laid there for sometime till about 11-ish.

I let out a sigh, "i should probably get going. Hopefully they don't say anything....but then again would they really care?"

I used a nearby rock to help get to my feet but it did the complete opposite. The rock sunk into the ground and it caused me to fall right back down. I then heard a mechanical sound coming from the other side of the tree. I got up, without using the rock, and walked around to the side. I was met with a huge hole right in the trunk of the tree. It was hard to see inside but it seemed to be stairs going down. Mechanical sounds started again and the opening began to slowly close. I quickly hopped inside and the exit closed right behind me.
