Cheers to the New Year! Best wishes to you all ♡

Not my best chapter. I feel like it was very repetitive; in the woods, out of the woods, in the woods then out of the woods. I'm sure you'll see what I mean. One thing I am kinda struggling with is what Briet would do in daily life back in this time period so when she is not in open dialog with people I like don't know what to have her do. Anyways, I'm thinking like two more chapters and then this will be the first story I have ever finished! Yay! I have two endings planned out and I am not sure which one I should go with. IT WILL BE HAPPY! I know this story has been rough but I always planned on having a happy ending that ties up everything.

"Briet!" Katla's voice jolted me awake. I shot up in bed, the light instantly blinding me. My arms came up to shield them from the light while I tried to search my home for Katla.

Within seconds the door to my house burst open and there in the door frame stood Katla, panting from being out of breath and her hair disheveled.

I felt a blast of cold morning air race over me making me very aware of the fact that I was not wearing anything. I grabbed our the blankets that had pooled on my lap and desperately tried to cover myself.

"Katla what's the matter?" My voice still sounding groggy.

"That crippled bastard, Ivar, that's what is the matter!" She spat back.

I felt Einar rise from his side of the bed now. "Katla, please close the door." He said in a hushed yet demanding tone.

"Sorry," She turned and closed the door behind her and then walked over to he table at the middle of the building, pulled out of one the chairs and crumbled into it.

"Ivar came to us in the middle of the night. He woke Hvitserk and I and started going on about how Hvitserk must leave at first light to travel to King Olaf. Something about a diplomatic venture." She said the last part in a mocking tone, trying to mimic how Ivar sounds when he gives one of his many speeches to the people of Kattegat.

"Did Hvitserk tell him no?" Einar asked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"He did. But then Ivar threatened my life." Katla responded.

My brows furrowed. "He threatened your life?" I knew threatening the life of his brother's lover was not below Ivar. I wanted to know why it is so important for Hvitserk to go to King Olaf.

"He said it would be a pity if he would have to burn me alive to get the message across to Hvitserk that he must go. That bastard looked me in the eyes as he said it, too."

I could see a shiver run up Katlas' spine. "He left before the sun rose."

She glanced at the both of us who were still very much naked and then to the table next to her. When she saw the pitcher of mead on the table she grabbed for it and chugged the rest of what was left from last night.
