I move to Brackley a few days after the race in Hungary.
"I have something for you" says Lewis while we wait for our car at the airport.
"What have you done?"
He laughs " you'd like it"
He drives, we are in the UK and I'm not comfortable driving on the left side of the road.
" I think our hotel is in the opposite way Lewis" I say.
"Don't worry" he says keeping his eyes on the road.
"Your new Tom Tom capacity is scaring me"
He laughs "trust me"
After 5 minutes we arrive at a little house and he parks the car.
"Ehm Lewis? I don't think this is our hotel"
"No it's not. This is our house"
"What? Please tell me you didn't buy a house"
"You can't live at the hotel for the next weeks and I think it's time to get a house near the factory so we both have somewhere to sleep every time we come here for work"
"I think is too much" I say looking at the house.
"It's a gift"
"It's a house Lewis and I can't afford it"
"I can"
"I..."
"Just say thank you" he smiles.
"I'm gonna kill you one of these days" I say getting off the car.
"I love you too little star" he screams from inside the car.
I open the trunk "When I say stop buying me expensive things, I was including a house"
"Oh really?" he laughs even more "it's for the both of us"
"Yeah, it is the only reason why I don't completely kill you" I act angry and take my bag.
The house is amazing, really typical British red bricks building on the outside and inside is all new and modern, he already got everything. There is also a picture of us under the podium in France, that kiss.
"I know you love that photo"
"I do"
At the ground floor there are the kitchen and the living room, upstairs two bedrooms and the bathroom, in the main room there is also a small balcony that looks at the little garden behind the house.
"I love it" I say
"I knew it"
"I'm serious, Lewis, it's amazing"
He comes closer and hugs me "I know, little star"
When he leaves for Africa the real work begins. The factory is just a 30 minutes walk from our house so I basically always go by foot and if I'm really tired I ask for a lift to go back home. I love the factory, I met all the people that are usually not on track and I also get a little desk all for me. For 3 weeks straight I go to work almost every day, 3 days at the construction area, 2 days at the office and 1 day, Saturday, I like to go to the sim and watch the academy drivers testing the car. Almost every evening I videochat with Lewis.
"What are you eating?" he says while he's choosing which cap to wear.
"Just Avocado toasts I was lazy tonight, how was your day?"
"I saw gorillas it was amazing" he says smiling.
"I'm happy you're having fun"
"Hey Isabella are you good?"
"Hi Spinz I'm fine thanks, it's Isabelle by the way"
"You're Italian I'll keep Isabella"
I laugh "As you wish"
"I have to go, we are going out for dinner" Lewis says.
"Have fun baby, I love you"
"Love you too little star"
The days run so fast that I don't even realise Lewis will be back in just 2 days. I start packing to go back to Monaco so we can meet there, I check my phone to see if the flight ticket is ok.
'Carlos Sainz is single. The Spanish driver broke up with his girlfriend recently, what happened between them?'
Carlos. He didn't text me after Hungary, what's happening to him, he looked sad at the last race, I need to call him.
"Hi Carlos"
"Ciao Bella"
"Ho letto di Isa, tutto bene?" [I read about Isa, are you ok?]
"Si sì, è stata una decisione presa insieme, non sentivamo più le stesse cose quindi sto bene" [Yes, it was a mutual decision, we didn't feel the same anymore so I'm fine]

"No in realtà sto lavorando, sono in Inghilterra" [No, actually I'm working, in England]

I laugh
"Non avevo nulla da fare, era meglio che stare con le mani in mano per 3 settimane" [i had nothing to do, it was better than doing nothing for 3 weeks]
"È proprio da te" [it's so you]
"Tu Maiorca?" [And you, Maiorca?]
"Vacanze di famiglia ma sono tornato a Maranello ieri" [family vacations but now I'm back in Maranello]
