It had been five days since Ben's accident. Wesley was in his office, hard at work making the mask. If he made it correctly it would help Ben breathe easier. It had places for vials of serum on the sides and the serum would change into a gas that he would be able to inhale, and the goggles' red light would help him see better. It was almost done. He just hoped it would actually work.
Benjamin's condition was only getting worse. He was in so much pain and he was getting more aggressive. Just the other day, Wes had gone over to the patient room Ben was staying in to check on him and give him more pain meds. He was only standing by Ben's bed for a moment before reaching for the bottle of pain medicine, but it didn't take long before Ben's hand latched tightly around Wes' wrist, scowling up at him. Wesley's eyes widened in shock of what was happening. He tried pulling his hand away but Ben's grip wasn't letting him go. It was only once he started grimacing and screaming in pain again that he finally let go.
Wes looked down at his wrist as he was working on the mask at the bruise that had formed where Ben had grabbed him, and sighed. Ben and Wes didn't exactly get along anymore, after the whole thing with Ben confessing to Deb how he feels about her, but he would've never wished this fate on anyone.
He had been able to piece together what had actually happened and that Nelson had forced Ben into doing it. He hadn't seen his business partner very much the last few days, because he'd been so focused on getting the mask done, but when he had he noticed how Nelson didn't seem remorseful for causing this to happen at all. He would never understand why.
