Lan Zhan woke up the next morning, looking around at his somewhat messy room.
Drawers had clothes hanging from the edge, nearly falling.
His books, all thrown to the floor, some of their pages scattered around the floor.
It was as if a rampage had struck his room, leaving him nothing but a huge mess with him laying right in the middle of it.
He panicked, standing up from where he once layed down before rushing out of his room, downstairs where a silent conversation could be heard.
He walked towards the voices, seeing his brother and uncle sitting across from each other, with solid expressions on their faces.
His brother's filled with more concern then anything.
He then looked at his uncle, who sat across from him.
His hands were crossed, his expression was filled with heavy disappointment.
In Lan Wangji's heart he knew something happened.
Could he have done something?
He was just about to walk away until his uncle called him, seeing as he had been standing there, only watching them in silence.
Wangji felt his heart stop, yet he still followed, being prepared for what was to come.
He had already known it was his own doing, — that what might have happened was his own fault.
Though he'd wanted to disappear once more, he didn't, walking towards where his uncle and brother sat.
He took a seat in between them both, keeping his relative distance away from them.
"Wangji." His uncle said.
"Mn." He responded.
"What do you think you were doing? Weren't you supposed to be studying?" His uncle said.
Lan Zhan looked up at his uncle, not responding.
"Well? What did you think you were doing running away from home? Why did you escape?" His uncle said.
Lan Zhan looked at his uncle, his stare indifferent and calm, just as usual.
His uncle was starting to loose his patience.
"Do you not understand Im doing this for you're safety Lan Wangji?" His uncle said.
Lan Zhan nodded.
His Uncle shook his head, "Then why did you do it? Why did you run from where you are supposed to be?— why?!" His uncle raised his voice, standing from where he sat.
Lan Xichen stood up, looking as his uncle's upset face.
He looked back at his little brother, who sat silently, just like he always had.
He never complained, he only sat silently, letting their uncle yell at him, scold him.
It was an unbearable sight to him but he knew their uncle had wanted to insure their safety, for their father wouldn't.
Yet, he couldn't let his uncle yell at his little brother like that, he knew Wangji couldn't have done it without a reason.
"Uncle, please calm down. I'm sure Wangji had to have a reason why he did it. Please, don't yell at him." He said.
His Uncle sighed, grabbing the files from the coffee table.
"If we keep excusing him he wouldn't ever learn Xichen. And you know this." His uncle said.
Lan Xichen nodded.
"I know uncle, but please spare him for now. He is tired and just woke up, speak to him later when you and him have a clearer mind." He said.
His uncle nodded before finally walking away, back into his office where he closed the door behind him, locking it.
Lan Xichen sighed.
Lan Zhan looked at his older brother, seeing the tiredness on his face as if he'd stayed up all night.
"Brother?" Lan Zhan said.
Lan Xichen turned around to face his younger brother.
"Yes Wangji?" He said, rubbing his temples.
"Have you stayed up all night again?" He said.
Lan Xichen smiled, though behind that smile there was pain, and Lan Zhan knew this better then anyone.
"You need to sleep brother. It is not good for you to stay up." He said, his voice filled with even the slightest bit of concern.
Lan Xichen sighed, yet his smile never got off his face.
He knew his little brother was worried, just by the look in his eyes that killed Lan Xichen every time he saw them, the same eyes their mother gave them when she was worried.
Wangji looked much like her, though their personalities were different, Wangji was more like their father.
Silent, and most of all, he had his father's stubbornness.
Lan Xichen smiled at that.
Wangji had always been the perfect combination of their parents, he was their living image.
"Don't worry, I will get rest soon. I'm just worried for you Wangji." He said.
Lan Zhan looked at his brother then back down to the floor.
"What did I do last night?.." he said.
Lan Xichen sighed, "You went out without telling uncle with Wei Wuxian, who brought you home in a drunken state. Which I believe you can imagine how uncle reacted when he saw you with Wei Wuxian." He said.
Lan Zhan's heart stopped, his throat felt dry, words wouldn't dare escape his mouth after hearing such a thing.
Lan Xichen got up, he hadn't seemed to be mad at Wangji at all, his only solid emotion being concern and worry.
"Follow me Wangji." He said.
Lan Zhan nodded, standing up from where he sat, following his brother in the direction of what seemed to be the garden.
His brother sat down on the grass, looking at Lan Wangji expectantly before patting the area beside him.
Lan Zhan nodded, taking a seat beside his brother.
"Wangji." He said.
Lan Zhan turned to look at his older brother.
"Mn." He responded.
Lan Xichen smiled, seeing as his little brother still hadn't changed even a little.
"Do you feel happy beside Wei Wuxian?" He said.
Lan Zhan looked at his brother intensely, seeing if his brother had been testing him, possibly teasing him.
But he hadn't.
His face was calm, yet stone cold serious.
Lan Zhan sighed, looking down at the grass as he brushed his hand through the green carpet around them.
Lan Xichen understood.
His brothers actions were enough to give him a response to what he had wanted to know.
Now debating on whether how he felt about it, he wasn't certain.
His brother was a role model, a student who everyone was supposed to look up to, admire.
But now, as he saw his brother's uncertainty, something stirred up in his heart, making it difficult for him to say anything else.
He had thought this as a possibility as he saw his little brother hanging around with Wei Wuxian, but he hadn't expected to see him with Wei Wuxian that night, holding him so close as if he were afraid to let go.
He's never seen his brother so frantic before, the hurt and panic in his eyes as the guards kicked Wei Wuxian was more then a shot in the chest from Lan Xichen.
But how?
How could Lan Wangji fall into someone's embrace that easily? Surrendering himself to the person as if it were his last breaths, seemingly as if he could sacrifice his whole world for Wei Wuxian, he would.
"Is it wrong?" A voice interrupted his thoughts.
Lan Xichen looked at his younger brother whom had been observing him this whole time, silently without saying a single word.
Lan Xichen sighed.
"I can't be for certain whether it is. But if you, in you're heart feel close to Wei Wuxian, how could it be wrong?" He said, looking at his younger brother.
He showed him a smile.
"Though I don't have a answer to you're questions, it doesn't mean we can't find out an answer." He said.
He took his brothers hand, for probably the first time in years, wanting his point to come across his troubled younger brother's head.
"We will figure something out, I know we will. I'll be by you're side like I've always have." He said.
Lan Zhan nodded, giving his brother a small smile in showing that he would also be there for him, though he never said it.
Lan Xichen let go of his brother's hand, walking away slowly before heading to a stop at the door.
"Don't stress over it to much. We have school in a day, try to relax." He said before walking inside their home.
Lan Zhan sighed, looking up at the moon whom had now been present.
He wondered if he had been the only one whom felt this way, — the ache in his heart grew as he thought more about it.
But nonetheless, he stood up before walking back into his house, with a little bit of hope growing within in darkened heart.
