This place is so hot, I mean of course it is, but everyone's sweating so much I can't help but think about the actual battling that'll take place here, it can't be efficient or get anyone killed; The blackened walls are menacing though, and Dragon looks in their element, I suppose that's expected. The heat, I mean it really is unbearable, makes looking around for traps basically impossible- or looking around for anything.
No tech in here, which is probably smart since it'd overheat in about 2 seconds, which means there are only proper locks on the doors, and since we'd usually have Chaos lock picking, we have to settle for the couple lessons Bomb guy had.
I'm starting to see the tactics of all this volcano stuff.
Most of the villain side of things- that isn't actual crime lords- is sort of like having a day job, so is Hero-ing I guess, none of us want to die really.
"Vis! This door's kicking material." LJ yells out to me in the heatwaves, bringing my senses towards something concrete; wooden and metal. A door from all I can make out from the constant sweat in the eyes.
That sticky vision almost makes me miss the middle of the door, but there's still that satisfying crunch of the bolt snapping off in the lock as it swings open.
There it is.
Big fancy one of a kind painting, apparently recovered from some rich house burning down and put in a museum. But big greedy supervillain EV wanted it more.
Pretty cut and dry whose in the wrong here.
Right past the door's threshold the one visible mechanism in the whole volcano reveals itself, and we all breathe an audible sigh of relief as it turns on, filtering the heat and smog out of the room and pumping in cool air. Clearing the place for everyone to witness the over-dramatic entrance EV is definitely about to pull, I dash back and hide behind one of the ventilators, focusing on going invisible.
"It's nice to see you all again!" EV voice booms through the huge black stone doors as they open.
Bomb guy audibly sighs, exhausted from the walk and EV's bullshit. I see as LJ turns his head back to hide him stifling a laugh, always enjoying every melodramatic action of the supervillain jobs.
Nora smiles brightly like she always does, glowing in an orangey pink haze like a glowstick, and shifts to the front of the group.
"EV! We found your lair, there's no escape now! We have you pinned to the ground, and The Meteors are coming down!"
The silence is hilarious. EV laughs and even LJ releases a small chuckle in the back. Dragon stands resolute and unemotive as Bomb guy continues to recuperate his breath.
"Starstrike. You don't understand. My want is in justice's name, as is yours. I do not have the time or energy to explain my plan to simpletons, you will just have to die instead. Once I succeed you will see I was right all along."
They throw off the dark purple cape that must've been overheating them, to reveal a very stylish combat suit, even with little purple stitching around the plates. I mean, really, say what you want, the villain style is appealing. The murder and stuff not so much, but you can't win 'em all. That suit and the venetian style mask is just very cool, I can't lie.
And I realise I'd been paying far too much attention to their outfit, because Dragon is already throwing a bout of flames their way and Lightning is already beginning to float up, wisps of dust from the floor dancing around his feet.
EV leaps over the banister, avoiding the blaze nimbly and landing down on the other side where I can't quite see. I roll across the floor and lean down to watch what they're doing as Starstrike raises the painting off it's stand carefully, Bomb guy helps to lift. Lightning yells and wind crashes down through a vent whole in the volcano wall, scooping EV up and pinning them to the door behind the banister, Dragon revs another blast.
