Part 8- In which chaos is unleashed upon a Barnes & Noble

My original plan had, as I'd mentioned to Angie earlier, been to go to the nearest library as they usually have free wifi for me and entertainment for Tamari. However, the library was a lot further away than I had originally anticipated, so I ended up finding a close by Barnes & Noble with a little cafe that I could work in. I remember going to Barnes & Noble as a kid, and playing with the little train sets and puppets in the kids' section. That seemed right up Tamari's alley, so I figured they'd be cool with it.

So anyways, we walk to the Barnes & Noble, and I order a hot chocolate so they can't kick us out later for not buying anything. Then, I sit my stuff down at a little table and guide Tamari to the kids' section. I told them that they could wander around wherever they wanted, but that they shouldn't break anything, and that if they needed anything I would just be in the cafe. I then left them to go work.

"Okay, so you can go anywhere in the store, but don't break anything, okay? If you need me, I'll just be in the cafe. You saw where our table is. Alright?" Ophelia explained to Tamari. Tamari agreed not to break anything, and then wandered off to explore the kids' section of the store. Ophelia left to go get some work done.

Now, it just so happens that at this time, there was someone else in the same area as Ophelia and Angie that had ordered a Tamari plushie. Her name was Arcadia, and she had received her plushie on the same day as Ophelia. Today, this young GHOST fan found herself in the kids' section of the very same Barnes & Noble as Tamari. Tamari noticed her before she noticed them, and so they walked right up to her and said,

"Hello!" with a big, friendly smile on their face. Arcadia looked up from the book she had been inspecting, and saw Tamari standing in front of her, and almost had a heart attack.

"My name is Tamari. I suppose you already knew that, too," they continued, gesturing to the teenage girl's plushie, which she'd brought to the bookstore for some reason.

"You're... Tamari...." Arcadia stammered, in disbelief.

"That's me!" Tamari exclaimed, still smiling.

"How, did you even get, here? I thought you were... fictional!"

"I mailed myself here! In a box! With one of those toys!" Tamari answered, proud of their accomplishment.

"How- How is that even possible?" The girl held up her plushie, to compare it to the full-sized android. It was a lot smaller.

"As they say, 'A magician never reveals their secrets.'" Tamari looked around. "This place is very colorful, isn't it? I want to explore."

Arcadia added, "This place is fun to run around in, with all the bookshelves. There aren't a lot of people here either, so it feels like it's just you and the books."

"What's that, over there?" Tamari wondered, and ran off.

"Hey, wait for me!" Arcadia called after them, and took chase.

Exactly five minutes later, the kids' section of the Barnes & Noble was left in semi-ruin. The puppets, which had been neatly placed on their racks, were now strewn across the stage and surrounding floor. A few books sat on the floor as well, or had been abandoned on the wrong shelf as the pair had lost interest in them. Arcadia had made a few attempts to reorganize, but Tamari moved through the store so quickly that she had to leave the mess behind to keep up with them.

Eventually, Tamari and Arcadia left the kids' section, and were running rampant in the main part of Barnes & Noble. Luckily, the bookshelves of the books for adults were left in a much better condition than the kids' ones, and the books were (mostly) placed where they were supposed to go. At some point, a song began to play that made Tamari stop for a moment.

O-Ophelia, you've been on my mind, girl, since the flood. O-Ophelia, heaven help the fool who falls in love.

"Ophelia... that's the name of the person I'm staying with!" Tamari looked up at the ceiling  towards the song.

"Really? Cool! It's like they had a whole song written for them," Arcadia laughed. "Y'know, I think I know this song." she began attempting to sing along, then followed by Tamari because that seemed like the most logical course of action, and that's how they ended up singing along to the radio station or whatever was playing over the speakers in the middle of Barnes & Noble.

Great. Now I just needed Tamari, and we'd be set to go. Where were they, anyways? I was on my way to the kids' section, where i'd left them, when I heard giggling from inside one of the aisles. I poked my head in between two bookshelves, and found Tamari and some other little girl  sitting on the floor, laughing at the romance book titles. I laughed a bit myself at the scene, then told Tamari that it was time to go, and that they needed to put the books away.

"Oh, then we need to go and clean up the puppets and stuff in the kids' section!" the girl exclaimed, jumping up and putting her book back on the shelf.

"Oh dear. What did you do?" I wondered aloud. The girl lead me to the kids' place, where it looked like a hurricane had tor through the puppets area. I said this.

"It was a hurricane," agreed the girl. "Hurricane Tamari."

(A/N: Ooh wow a nice long chapter)
