Everyone sat in preparation for the next scene. They knew it would be like the others and that another obstacle was going to appear.
But this one was a bit different because the four avatars were going to a village, and everyone was curious how it would be presented since the majority of the spectators were new to video games.
Marc and Blaise fidgeted in their places uncomfortably, knowing what was about to come.
The scene changes to show a green valley, and the four are walking on a stone edge next to a mountain with a deep fall three steps away from the wall.
"I can't get over how beautiful the scenery is," Daphna sighed wistfully. She would have loved to see something like that in person, but she doubted her father would ever allow that.
Tracy, who was sitting beside her, agreed. "It is stunning."
Blaise's voice can be heard as they trudged on. "So sick of this game. Just stay out of my way, Black."
Kevin bristled. "And what did Marc do?" he asked, glaring at Blaise warningly.
"There's no need for the hostility," Theo snapped back in defense.
"Hey, I'm sure Mr. Zabini didn't mean anything bad," Andromeda spoke up to soothe their ruffled feathers.
Padma stood up and went to sit next to Kevin. While he wasn't the most confrontational person, he would stand up for his friends. It didn't help that Marc and Luna were often targeted, mainly by the so-called 'golden trio'.
Blaise took Theo's hand in his to calm him down. It made his stomach flutter, seeing the boy jump so readily to his defense.
"Why are you mad at me for?" Marc asks quizzically.
"Why am I mad?" Blaise echoes while Susan and Lavender walk ahead of them, not noticing their argument. "Are you seriously asking that?"
Lavender and Susan looked on curiously. They'd been too busy chatting the first time to pay attention to the boys. They didn't know what started their argument.
"We'd like to know too," Charlie mutters. As far as he knew, Marc had done nothing this far.
Bill leaned towards his brother. "It's probably all the frustration of the situation boiling over," he explained. Not to mention, the tension those two had since the beginning.
He turns toward Marc. "This is your fault. You got us stuck in whatever this is," Blaise says, batting away a branch that came to his face.
Kevin scowled as the blame was tossed at his friend. They'd all agreed to play the damn game, and Marc hadn't forced anyone, but he kept his mouth shut.
Mostly because Padma's nails were digging into his arm. Did she have claws or something?
They are walking on narrow stones while looking down to avoid falling.
"Perhaps you should postpone this dispute until you're in a more stable environment," Prof. McGonagall suggested. She feared they'd be too distracted and end up falling.
Marc shrugged indifferently. "This has already happened, so there's nothing we can do about it."
"And you wonder why we're not friends no more."
Olivia frowned at that. Marc never told her why Blaise and he stopped being friends. They were close before Hogwarts since that time they met in Italy when their family went for a vacation there.
Was it because of their different houses? It wouldn't be the first time the house system ruined relationships.
"Oh, is that why we're not friends anymore? Because you don't wanna be stuck in Jumanji? I don't think so," Marc retorts sharply, still moving carefully. "We're not friends because you were weak enough to let the public opinion about the tormented son of the evil Sirius Black sway you, so you pretended not to know me and even went on with your Slytherin friends to target me."
