every time I come to this mall I swear it gets smaller. i only ever shop at like three stores

right now I'm hanging out with my best friend calum and we usually come here after school to visit michael, our other friend, who works at hot topic. which also happens to be all of our favorite store so with michael working there we get a huuuge discount. which means more band tees for me.

we've all met each other at primary school and have become best friends since. they know everything, good and bad, and I trust them not to tell anyone else.

when we first walk into the mall I immediately start looking for hot topic. but then, I see someone. I see the most beautiful girl ever. long straight brown hair that stops at her shoulder blades and the most precious smile ever that could make the world stop and stare. she was an angel. and the best part is she was wearing a blink 182 shirt. but then I was brought back into reality by calum pulling on my necklace, making me react immediately.

"hey be careful with that", I say to him

"yeah I know it just looked like you were about to drool and almost ran into a pole, so I was technically doing you a favor" he replied back slightly laughing.

we walk into hot topic and I immediately see the new blink 182 shirt on the wall.

I turn to michael and calum, who are talking at the front counter, "you never told me you got a new stock of blink shirts"

michael laughs lightly, "you never asked"

I scoff and walk towards it in the back. I hear them laughing and here calum whisper, "he's obsessed"

I stick up a middle finger signaling I heard them and i hear them laugh. once I get to the shirt I see it's a new one of their buddha album. my favorite. I smile really wide and find my size. I try it on anyway just in case and look in the mirror. but the first thing I notice is the shine of my necklace in the reflection. the antler hanging loose around my neck always brings back good and bad memories. that I'll never share with anyone. I've never even told calum or michael but they understand that it's really personal.

although occasionally they ask about it but I just ignore it or change the subject.

sooner or later I get out of my daydream when I feel my pants go down my legs, "fuck calum!" he runs away and hides behind the counter laughing his ass off

he fucking pantsed me!

I quickly pull them up and check to see if anyone was here. I was quick enough to pull them up while a older woman started to walk in. I can still see him hiding and Michael is trying to contain his laughter while there is costumers in the store.

I stalk up to calum, "ha ha so funny now come out so I can rip that blonde streak off your head!"

he gets out quickly and starts running around the store laughing, "come and get me!" I laugh too and start chasing after him bumping into racks and knocking over some stuff on the way.

but then we hear michael yell at us, "guys stop there are customers in here!"

we both freeze at the same time, me reaching for his hair and him about to turn a corner.

michael sighs, "thank you" and turns back to his counter.

when he turns all the way around I pull at calums hair while he isn't ready and he makes a high pitched squeaky noise. I laugh really loud but then michael gives us a glare that could kill us instantly.

we freeze again and when he's not looking start laughing again and I walk back towards the shirt I wanted to buy. I grab it and walk towards michael to pay for it. I hand him my money and wait for him to give me change. but then while I'm waiting I hear a little girl about 10 behind me. what's she doing in a store like this? she's probably with that lady who walked in earlier.

"that's an interesting necklace", she said with a small voice.

I smiled down at her, "it is isn't it?"

she smiled back and asked, "how did you get it?"

i turn all the way around, face her, and bend down to her height, "well a little reindeer decided to stop by and lend me a gift"

she saw through the fake story and said, "you shouldn't lie", she keeps talking, "because sooner or later the one you love is going to ask and would you lie then?"

before I answer back I hear the lady call to the little girl, "come on angel I didn't find what I needed!" the little girl turns to her mom and then turns back to me, gives me a smile and skips to her mother.

what would I even respond with? I was left bent down speechless. but then I hear a confused michael, "uh luke, whatcha doing down there?"

"there was um a girl-" michael interrupts, "okay well here's your money now get calum and get your ass out of the store before I get fired" he turns and starts walking to the things we knocked over on our chase.

I hear calum walk up next to me and we both whisper, "whoops" simultaneously.

we start laughing at our stupidity and walk out calling a goodbye to michael and getting a "whatever" in response.

we walk to the food court and calum starts suggesting places to eat. but I can't help but think about what the little girl said, will I ever tell the one I love the truth?

an ~ okay so this is a really short chapter and I'm sorry about that but I just want to explain that this book is only going to be written by me (tessa) because of course some of our books are going to be written by ourselves and some together but anyway! I really hope you enjoyed this I'm really excited to see this book go far and I hope you come along on my journey! lmao sorry I'm so awkward.
