In The 21st Century

A/n POV :

"Please don't leave me, noooo." screamed Y/n at the top of her lungs, she opened her eyes and realised it was a dream. She was sweating and breathing heavily. She picked up her phone and saw the time "Fuck, I'll be late for my first day at college." she muttered to herself and got ready forgetting the nightmare.

She walked downstairs and saw her dad sitting at the dining table having breakfast "Good morning dad." she greeted.

"Good morning sweetie have breakfast c'mon." he invited.

"Sorry dad I'm running late, I'll eat at the cafeteria, take care, bye." she said in a rush and ran outside. She got inside her car and instructed the driver to steer.

"Ufff this girl is so clumsy." said Mr Lee putting his hand on his forehead.

Y/n entered the homeroom and quietly settled on her seat, luckily the teacher hadn't come yet "Phew, that was a close one." she said and sighed. She saw a girl approaching her so she smiled at her.

"Hello, I'm Irene and you?" she introduced and smiled brightly.

"I'm Y/n, nice to meet you." Y/n replied.

"Nice to meet you too, looks like you're my new seatmate." she said and chuckled.

"Guess so." Y/n winked.

"Friends?" Irene offered a handshake.

"Yes." Y/n accepted the handshake.

They both were chatting but stopped when the homeroom teacher came in. She started with her blabbering and while paying attention the two girls were gossiping.

In Lunch Time :

Irene and Y/n were about to take a seat but Y/n saw a girl sitting alone and she looked sorrowful
"Irene, look at her, she seems lonely let's go to her." Y/n pointed at her.

"Yes you are right, let's go talk to her." Irene said and nodded, they both walked to that girl and got seated with her.

"Hey, I'm Y/n and this is Irene, what's your name?" Y/n introduced themself and smiled at the lonely girl.

"Hello, I'm Jennie." the girl replied and smiled slightly, Y/n had made instant progress.

"We noticed that you were sad, are you alright?" asked Irene concerned.

"I was just sad because I fought with my brother, nothing much." she revealed.

The three of them were chatting so they didn't notice that they were being stared at. The boy was too nervous to talk to the three so he was staring at them from a distance.

"I should probably go talk to her." he said trying to convince himself, he started walking towards their table and was about to approach them but stopped.

While he was lost in thinking Y/n saw him. She made her way to him and tapped his shoulder.

"Do you need help?" she asked politely which made Taehyung even more nervous. He couldn't say anything in reply so he just shook his head.

"I'm Y/n." she introduced herself and offered him a handshake.

He hesitantly accepted it but as their hands touched they both felt a current run through their hand but they both decided to ignore it.

"I'm Taehyung, I had a question for you if you wouldn't mind answering." Taehyung said as he played with his fingers.

"Ya sure, I don't mind." she passed a smile to him.

"Have we met before?" he asked.

"No, I don't think so, why do you ask?" she replied and fired a question at him.

"I don't know, I just saw you and found you familiar." he admitted.

"It happens I guess, leave that, care to join?" She pointed at the table where Jennie and Irene were sitting.

"Thanks for the offer but I have something to do, bye." he said and fled from there.

"Ok, bye Taehyung." Y/n looked at him till he disappeared and then walked back to her seat.

"Who was he?" Irene and Jennie questioned.

"I don't know but he was quite handsome." Y/n replied which made both of the girls smirk.

"Come on guys, it's not like we hooked up." Y/n said.

"Ya right." Irene playfully rolled her eyes.

Taehyung POV :

I know that face but how come? I felt something in my hand as we shook hands. Was it a coincidence or it meant something?

For now, I should apologise to Y/n for being a coward and asshole. I didn't join her because I was overwhelmed.

I am searching for Y/n while reciting the apology in my mind. God, I am so pathetic, what is wrong with me?

Soon I find Y/n packing her things in the homeroom so I run towards her "Hey Y/n." I greeted which made her gaze shifted towards me.

"Hi, Tae." Y/n replies casually giving me a nickname.

"Sorry for leaving like that in the break." I apologised.

"You're forgiven." she says and winks.

"Can we be friends?" I ask hesitantly.

"Sure, I'd love to be friends with you." she smiled which made me smile.

I swear I wasn't this shy and hesitant but since I have laid eyes on her something has happened to me. I was talking to other people just fine but with her I was so hesitant I thought I would collapse.

She lights up a familiar fire in me
