"Thank you", you smile at the waiter and pick up the big iced coffee he just brought to your table. With your gaze wandering over the busy shopping street in front of you, you wrap your lips around the straw and take a big sip from your sweet cold refreshment while leaning back in your seat. You love watching people, strangers you've never seen before and probably never see again, you could spend hours just thinking about their lifes, where they're headed to, what their stories are. The elderly couple, holding hands while window shopping. The mom with her kids, and the middle aged men in a suit, who's hurrying down the street. Two younger girls just left a clothing boutique on the other side of the road, both of them carrying big shopping bags while giggling with each other. Their unclouded happiness draws a little smile on your face, you put your coffee down and watch them as they quickly cross the street to enter another shop next to the cafe you're sitting at. Snippets of their conversation reach up to your ear. "There's more to life than stupid boys", the red haired girl says while linking arms with the other one. You go girl, you think to yourself as they pass by, don't you ever let a man try to convince you of the contrary.
"Sorry I'm late", Gabby's voice rips you out of your observations, you turn your head and look at her. "No worries, I'm used to it". She bends down to you and kisses your cheek, before signing the waiter to bring her an iced coffee as well and sitting down on the other side of the small table. "How's everything going?", she smiles at you and rummages through her bag to grab her sunglasses. "Great, just a little tired". "Why? Too much sex?", she smirks at you and slides her sunglasses on her nose. You chuckle and shake your head, "Sadly, no. Overthinking keeps me up". Gabby raises a brow and waits for you to explain it a little more. You sigh and take another sip from your coffee, "Now that Eddie and the band had some more meetings with the record label and its manager, their dreams of getting a record deal and maybe even touring the country are starting to slowly become more realistic. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be more proud or happy for them, but I'm scared of what might come along with that big change". She lightly nods, "You're scared you'll lose him?". "Probably, yeah", you shrug your shoulders and look at her. "But why? Eddie loves you so much, even a blind man sees that". "I know, but what if they're really going on tour? I can't go with them, I won't see him for months probably". "But why?", she asks confusedly. "What do you mean, why?". "Why wouldn't you just go with them?", she quickly thanks the waiter and grabs her iced coffee, before focusing back on you. "Because I have a job, responsibilities?", you look at her while lightly frowning your brows. "And?", she shrugs and sips from her coffee while watching you through her dark sunglasses. "And I need to make money to pay my bills? Gabby, what the hell?", you sigh and grab your bag to search for your cigarettes. "You surely don't need a job anymore once your man's a famous rockstar", she wiggles her brows at you and smirks. "That'll take some t-", you stop mid-sentence, your eyes just noticed something behind Gabby that attracted all your attention. A blue Camaro just parked on the side of the road, the loud rock music that was echoing out of its opened windows stops with the engine being turned off. "What?", Gabby asks confusedly while following your glance and looking over her shoulder. Billy just opened the door and climbed out of his car while combing his hand through his mullet, a cigarette between his lips. "Oh hell no", she groans while looking back at you. Anger burns in your chest, you're pressing your lips onto each other while watching him walking up to a shop across the street. Flashbacks run over your inner eye, you take deep breaths to prevent yourself from getting a panic attack. Your skin starts burning right where his fingers grabbed you harshly, the memory of his lips being pressed on yours makes you nauseous. "Hey", Gabby takes your hand and squeezes it. You gulp and look back at her with a pale face, shaking fingers fumble a cigarette out of your package and put it between your lips. "I'm alright", you mumble, needing three attempts to light your zippo. "The first time you saw him again?", she looks at you with worried eyes. You nod and inhale some smoke, desperately waiting for the nicotine to calm your nerves. "I never told you, but some days after the... incident, I overheard a conversation of some girls. Apparently Billy told everyone that he was trying to help me because "the freak", Eddie, harassed me. And that's why Eddie broke his nose". Gabby's face fills with anger, "He said what? What a fucking bastard. And they believed him?". You nod, "I bet they still think it happened like that. I can't believe he's really getting away with it". "Did you tell them the truth?". You blow some smoke through your nostrils and nod again, "Of course I did. They didn't believe me". She rolls her eyes and looks over to the shop, "I really wanna hurt him". "Not just you.
But that'd be the wrong way. I want everybody to know the truth, I want all of them to see what a fucking shithead he is". "So, we're planning a revenge?", Gabby lifts her sunglasses and looks at you with a mischievous smirk, "I'm so ready for this".
