Chapter 6

As soon as school ended, I hopped into my car and drove home trying to avoid the whispers that would reach my ears. I listened to the radio as I drove to try and distract myself from the worries that would reach my mind if it was silent, but they still came.

I reached home ten minutes later since I (sorta) followed the speed limits this time. I immediately took a nice, long hot shower to calm my nerves and unwind from this stressful and shitty day. My muscles loosened and I felt good, until I realized I had to meet Ryder at the gym. I finished my shower quickly and changed into my nerdy self once again, except this time I wore workout clothes. I wore my purple baggy Under Armour sweatshirt that hid my body, a black sports bra underneath, black jogging pants, and my black and purple tennis shoes. I tied up my wig in a ponytail making sure to secure any loose pieces of my real hair, and I slipped on my glasses. I prepared my usual blue duffle gym bag with extra clothes, my water bottle, my towel, a bag for my dirty clothes, my phone, and my IPod.

Once I was finished changing, I grabbed my keys, left a note to Emily and Mom, grabbed an apple, secured my bag, and ran all the way to the gym. It took me about five minutes to get there; when I got there a pissed of Ryder was waiting angrily for me.

"I'm so sorry!" I apologized with sincerity.

"It's fine," Ryder muttered as he entered the inside of the gym. I trailed behind him.

A stinky smell slammed in my face as soon as walked inside causing my nose to scrunch up in disgust. Ah the smell of putrid sweat. It reminded me of my fight training when I was younger. I used to and still train in this very gym. Hopefully my coaches don't see me. Ryder and I swiped our cards and was about to head down the locker rooms when one of my coaches stopped us.

"Hey Ryder!" my coach, David, greeted with a smile.

"Hey Dave," Ryder greeted back with a small wave.

"Whoah," Dave commented when his eyes landed on me.

"Hey Cece!" he greeted with a huge smile as he suffocated me into his signature bear hugs. How did he recognize me? He never saw me dressed as "Lia" before. Ryder had a very confused look on his face.

"Can't... uhhh... breath!" I choked out and David released me immediately.

"Hi Uncle Dave," I greeted. He's not really my uncle, but I'll explain that later. "How'd you know it was me?" I whispered.

"Duh. Your card has your information on it," Uncle Dave whispered. "Why are you here today Cece? You don't usually come to the gym today and especially not with a boy," Uncle Dave questioned like a father would.

"We're working on a project or something for school," Ryder answered.

"Cool," Uncle Dave said. "You two know what to do, so see ya later!" he left and headed back in his office. Ryder and I walked together to the door of the locker rooms where we parted; I entered the women's locker room and he entered the men's.

There were only about three other ladies with me inside the locker room, so plenty of lockers were available. I quickly chose an empty locker, took out my phone, IPod, water bottle, and towel from my duffle bag, and then I shoved the bag inside the locker and locked it. I then redid my ponytail checking for stray hairs again. When I was sure I was ready, I headed out the door and waited by it for Ryder to finish. After like two minutes, Ryder finally came out and basically every female teenager (except me) squealed and sighed dreamily when they saw him.

I don't get what's so special or appealing about his clothes or him. He was wearing a short sleeved back shirt that showed off his "muscles", gray jogging pants, and black tennis shoes. What's so special about that? That's what most people wear while working out. Geez. His fans are too obsessed.
