Chapter 10
As soon as school was over, Riley and I headed straight to her house. I already asked my mom, and she had said yes, which wasn’t surprising. Emily should know where I am, since I texted her. Just as we arrived at Riley’s house, a red Honda pulled up next door. I recognized it from somewhere but I just didn’t know where. Then the realization hit me. It was Aiden’s. I turned to Riley with a questioning look, but she didn’t notice me.
“Hey Riley, Lia!” Aiden called when he noticed us. I gave him a small wave. Riley’s gaze didn’t leave the ground as we made our way. Something was going on. He disappeared into the house and Riley and I entered hers.
“What, when, where, why, and how?” I asked her. I didn’t need to elaborate because she knows exactly what I mean.
“He moved in like, two weeks ago, and I didn’t say anything, because I didn’t know how to tell you. When you introduced us on Monday, we already knew each other,” she explained with a scowl. She sounded irritated.
“What crawled up your ass?” I asked her as I took off my “Lia” disguise. The wig was starting to itch.
“Nothing, I knew you were gonna react this way. You’re always trying to set me up with people. I should’ve told you in the beginning and I’m sorry,” she said. I knew she was sincere. She almost never says sorry, well for except that one other time, but that’s for another time.
“Ok then, I just wanted to know. I’m sorry too babe,” I joked as I wrapped my arms around her. She laughed as I did and hugged me back.
“So what are we gonna do for the night?” I asked her.
“Movie?”
“Ya know it.”
~~6 hours later~~
Three movies, a large box of pizza, two litters of Sprite, and five bowls of popcorn later, Riley and I are sprawled lazily on the couch. Both of us were exhausted. We had watched all three Rush Hour movies, and we could barely contain our laughter. Then I suddenly remembered Friday. I let out a loud groan.
“What’s wrong?” Riley asked me.
“Friday,” I blurted out bluntly.
“What about it?”
“I have to fight Ryder.”
“Oh. That sucks.”
“Yeah," I sighed.
“What are you so worried about?” She asked me.
“He’s close to figuring something out, I can tell,” I admitted, worry seeping into my voice.
“How do you know?”
Then I proceed to tell her what happened yesterday, excluding the whole diner and the situation between him and his father. I don’t know why I didn’t tell her, but I felt like it was not something I should share. It wasn’t my story to tell.
