The weak sunlight is trickling through the gym windows, and Mina wishes that it could've been a colder day as she flops onto a mat on the floor and grabs her water bottle.

Uraraka is standing above her, smiling in an almost teasing way — and Mina is dying on the floor, and she's almost glad that she'll get to punch the stupid smirk off of Uraraka's face when they spar again.

"Tired out already?" Uraraka says, reaching a hand down to pull her up.

Uraraka glimmers with sweat. She's stripped of her U.A. sports jacket, and is wearing a sweat-soaked tank top.

Mina rolls her eyes, getting a firm grip on Uraraka's wrist and heaving herself up with the help of the girl above her.

"Very much so." Mina says, running a hand through her hair. "Still gonna beat you, though."

Uraraka smiles, "You said that the last 3 times."

"And?" Mina says, as if she doesn't know the outcomes of the past three matches.

"You lost. All three." Uraraka says mischievously, flashing her a smirk.

Mina punches her arm and tugs off her jacket. "I'll win this time." She declares.

"So then I walked up to him, like, all intimidating-looking, and then I..." Mina's voice trails off and her eyes shift from Uraraka to the corner of the gym.

Mina?" Ochako asks as she's sparring with her. "What's up?" She lets her fists drop to her sides and wipes some sweat from her chin.

Mina is distractedly gazing across the room, eyes locked with a certain classmate. "Yep." Mina hums, not paying much attention to Uraraka. Ochako gives her an unimpressed look.

"WHAT?!" Mina yells suddenly, before slapping a hand over her mouth.

"Huh?" Uraraka asks, in a much calmer tone, following Mina's eye line.

Tsuyu is standing by the edge of the gym, twirling a strand of forest green hair around her finger.

Standing in front of her is Shinsou Hitoshi. They're close. Closer than friends should be standing, maybe. They're talking in hushed whispers. They wear lovestruck smiles, and fiddle with their hands nervously.

Ochako notices Mina's broken and jealous expression.

"Oh." She says.

"Oh?" Mina replies glumly, maybe a bit mockingly, too.

Uraraka threads her fingers through Mina's, enveloping her hand in hers. "I'm sorry." She says, looking back and forth between her friend and the pair.

Mina finds it hard to hold back her flood of tears — but she does.

Uraraka gives her a sympathetic look. "You never know. It could be nothing." She says, still gently holding Ashido's hand.

"Yeah," Mina sniffs, "could be nothing."

"Why was he even there? He's in general studies!" Mina says for what must be the hundredth time.

"I don't know. It was weird, I'll give it that."

The pair are laying on the floor of Uraraka's dorm as the sun sets. It's a bold pink in the sky. Ochako's desk is bathed in pink-red sunlight, and on any other night Mina would be outside taking photos.

She doesn't feel like it. Not right now.

Mina rolls over and takes a closer look out the window. Todoroki and Midoriya are walking together, heading inside.

"Hey," Mina says glumly, "It's your boyfriend." She lazily drapes a finger in the direction of the window.

Ochako rolls her eyes and looks out the window.

"Not my boyfriend." Midoriya, Todoroki and Iida are walking towards the dorms together.

Mina giggles. "Not yet."

Uraraka clearly notices Mina's short burst of laughter, and she sees an opportunity to keep her laughing. She keeps it going.

"Shut up!" She says, half-faking embarrassment.

Mina smiles, but it quickly fades into a sigh.

Uraraka immediately drops the act. She comes to Mina's side and places a hand on her shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Ashi." She lays flat next to her and snuggles into her side. "We'll figure it out, together."

Uraraka yawns and closes her eyes.

Mina stays awake.

She daydreams — or maybe, evening-dreams — about Tsuyu. Which isn't uncommon.

They're studying, and Mina knows all the answers to all the questions. Tsuyu doesn't know who Shinsou Hitoshi is, they aren't dating, and it's perfect.

Mina's night-dreams are similar.

"Mina. Mina!" Uraraka shakes Ashido awake.

Mina groans, rubbing her eyes and stretching. "Huh?" She asks, adjusting to her environment.

She's twisted in a tangle of blankets on the floor of Uraraka's dorm, it's early — the bright, white-blue light creeping in under the curtains tells her that.

A small salt lamp is illuminating the floor in a soft pink-orange glow. Uraraka is fully dressed in her school uniform, and her hair is tied into a small braid.

"It's nearly 8. We've gotta get ready."

Mina picks herself up on the floor. "I'm in your dorm?" Mina says slowly, looking around. "Did I fall asleep here?"

"Yep." Uraraka says, popping the p. She's relaxed. Her and Mina are so close that it was honestly about time they had a sleepover like this. "Now get up." She adds.

Mina sighs, but gets up. She fiddles with her hair for 2 minutes before rushing to her dorm to get changed.

Mina and Uraraka are the last to make it to class, but they're not late — which the pair are thankful for.

"Hey, Ashido?" An all-too familiar voice rings from behind her. It's speaking quietly to avoid getting caught in the middle of their English class.

Mina whips around and is met with Tsuyu, who's leaning over to talk to her.

Mina's face is barely a centimetre from Asui's, but the acid-washed girl clearly couldn't care less.

"Hey, Tsu!" She whispers, trying to keep her giddy smiling under control.

Tsuyu bites her cheek, remembering what she had to say. "Uh, I was just wondering when we're going to study together?"

Mina pauses for a moment, thinking over her options. She settles with a bashful 'soon, very soon!', and prays that Tsuyu still wants to do it with her.

"Ok. Maybe Saturday?" The frog girl replies, twisting a piece of her hair around her finger.

Just like she was doing when she was with Shinsou, Mina is reminded.

Saturday. That, she could do. She pulls her mind away from those thoughts.

Mina nods, giving the frog girl a small smile before turning around in her seat.

English isn't half as interesting as Tsuyu — but somehow, it's easier than talking to her. Mina is still breathing a little shakily, and she can feel that her ears are going a rose pink.

Idioms. She reminds herself. We're studying Idioms. Not the art of talking to the girl you like. Especially not the girl who apparently has a boyfriend, now.

Mina slumps against her desk, sighing and maybe holding back a few tears, too.
