I scrolled down the window and breathed in the cool breeze as the driver drove us to the airport. The air seemed unusually clean today and gave me a feeling of satisfaction as if I have not taken a breath in a very long time. As I sat and watch the scenery pass by I forced myself not to let out a whop of joy and make a complete fool of myself to the driver. After all, going home after five long years was not a joke. I've been eagerly waiting for this day as much as my parents were overjoyed when they heard that I was finally coming home, to stay. Before I knew it, the driver pulled up at the airport. "This is it," I said to myself and mentally did a happy dance as I walked towards the terminal scrolling my bags behind me. I checked my watch. I still had an hour before going on board.

I entered the washroom and checked myself in the mirror. I had to admit it, any passerby would have just guessed it right that I was going home. Why not? The big, contagious smile spread across my face gave away any evidence to it, if needed. My dark brown hair which complimented my equally brown eyes was done in a messy bun with little whips of curls. I didn't bother to put on much make-ups since I'd be travelling for almost ten hours. Still I managed to look good. "Not bad," I thought except for the blue summer dress that hung loosely on my body. That was the first thing I could get my hands on before I rushed to pack and left for the airport.

Forty minutes before flight. I checked the time. As I sat down comfortably waiting for the announcement for the next flight, I slid my hands into my purse to get out my ticket. And, Oh. My. God. Shock gripped me.

You've got to be kidding.

Where is it? Where is my ticket?

I searched my purse frantically but it wasn't in there. "Come on," I searched my purse again hoping that the ticket would be somewhere inside. But no. It wasn't.

Where could it be? I remember putting it in here before I left for the airport. There's no denying. Then, where is it?

I tried searching again but all in vain. I felt tears prick my eyes. No. I had to get home. I rushed to the ticket counter.

"Um, excuse me. I– I need a ticket to Oklahoma in the next flight, could you please get me one? It's urgent."

"I'm sorry Miss. But it's all booked."

"Could you please check it again? There must be someone who might have turn it in at the last moment?" It came out as more of a question.

"I'm sorry." The lady looked at me apologetically.

I sighed. I had to wait for another day before I get to be on my way home. Thanks to careless me. As I turned to leave a man walked up to the counter. I couldn't believe my ears.

"I'm sorry Miss but I have to cancel one of the two tickets to Oklahoma that I booked a few days ago." The man apologized to the lady at the counter.

Then the lady turned to me with a smile,"You're on luck."

At that moment I did one of my versions of a happy dance, again, mentally, of course.

"Thank you," I took the ticket and turned to thank the man but he was already walking towards the checkpoint. Something about him seemed so familiar but I couldn't tell what.

With thirty minutes left before the boarding time, I went into the washroom for the last time. I opened my purse to apply some lip gloss to my lips, which were dried from the shock of losing my ticket, I noticed a small paper lying beside the lip gloss inside my purse.  I took it and examined. What's this? I've never seen it before. There were figures written beside a list of names. I tossed it into the trash can.

As I took my seat on the plane I realized that the person sitting next to me was the same man at the counter.

"Excuse me?"

"Yes?" He turned. I couldn't help but notice his handsome face. Dark hair, perfectly cut jawline and his soft blue eyes. His perfectly tailored suit fitted his masculine body alright at all angles. He had a sense of authority surrounding him and yet something's so soft to his looks.

"Um, I don't know if you remember but I just wanted to thank you for the ticket."

He looked a little confused at first but after a second his face lit up," Oh! It's all right." He smiled. God. That went right through my heart.

"I really do mean it. If not for you, I wouldn't be sitting here right now. More precisely, I wouldn't be on my way home." I said and I meant it.

"Glad, I'm able to help." He nodded with a smile.

"By the way I'm Natalie." I extended my hand.

"Chase." Our hands met.

"Chase.Nice one. Fits you right." I smiled.

"Really?" He chuckled.

After a few more conversations and a drink together, we had become aquianted and so also my body decided to go into sleeping mode so I excused myself and pulled back my seat.

He seemed so familiar. I know I've seen him somewhere. But I don't know where. I think I like him. No. Not in that sense but as a friend. I bet he'll be a good friend but why do I feel that something really bad is going to happen?

When I woke up, my neck felt like it had been twisted in all  possible directions.

"Ouch!" I massaged myself.

I looked around. Everyone was fast asleep, except for Chase. His laptop was in front of him. He might be working on something. But he seemed quite disturbed.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Huh?"

"Are you alright?" I asked again.

"Um, yeah. I'm good." He smiled but it seemed forced.

"Are you really okay? Cause you seem to force yourself to smile."

He sighed.

"I misplaced an important document. I think I lost it."

"Oh." There was nothing I could do.

I took out a book and began to read but was ditracted by a slamming sound. I turned to look at Chase. He had slammed his laptop close.

"Uh, was it really important?" I asked, "the document," I added noticing the confused look on his face.

"I don't want to say this but 'hell yeah'." He took a deep breath. "It was my company's financial figures."

I nodded. I couldn't do anything though I really wanted to help him back.

As I delved into my book, I couldn't concentrate. I suddenly remembered somthing. What? I became restless. I shifted in my seat again and again. I couldn't sit still.

Washroom. Lip gloss. Paper. Figures. Trash can.

I face palmed myself.

"You okay?" Chase looked up from the magazine he was reading.

"Huh? Yeah...yeah I'm fine. I'm fine." I nodded.

I mentally slapped myself. What have I done? I'm dead meat. How do I confront him? God, please forgive me.
