Alex grabbed me by my arm and murmured something I couldn't grasp. What is he doing here? I looked into his eyes and for a moment saw what I never expected to see, but it went away in a flick of seconds. Was he really sorry? Is he asking for forgiveness? No. That's not him. It's just one of his tricks to lure me into believing him. I'm not going to make the mistake again. I am not going to let him hurt me again. I am not going to let him hurt my parents again.

"Natalie, listen to me. I—"  Before he could complete his sentence, someone grabbed him by his collar and punched his nose.

I turned to see an angry Chase. This is odd.

"Chase? What are you doing here?"

He didn't answer me but lifted his fist again.

Judging by his looks, Alex was all ready for a fight.

No. I don't want trouble now.

"Stop!" I cried. "Please stop." I jumped in between them.

"Who are you?" Alex barked at Chase.

"Alex, please. I don't want any trouble. Please go." I pleaded.

"Nat—"

"Please." I pushed him in the direction from where he came. Surprisingly, he did not fight back but just walked away. Sigh.

After Alex was gone I turned to look at Chase. Not a trace of anger on his face. He was back to his diplomatic self.  Why was he angry at the first place?

"What are you doing here?"  I questioned.

For the first time he was at a loss for words. "I— I.." He cleared his throat. "So, have you given a thought on it."

"On what?"

"The deal, of course."

"Oh yeah. The deal. What else." I faked a smile. After the encounter with Alex, I don't have the strength to quarrel. "Look Ch— Mr.Turner, I don't know how you know so much about me, but just to let you know that I am not a cheap toy that you can buy me off a store. I'm sorry but the deal is not going to happen." I picked my bags and started to walk.

Before I knew it, Chase took my bags from me and loaded them into his car, which I hadn't noticed earlier, was there.

"Get in." He opened the front passenger door.

"Huh?"

"What? You want to spend the night here?" He said with a smirk.

"Uh!" I looked around. At least it's better to go wherever he's taking me than to sit here alone in the dark. "No."

The bed seems unusually soft this morning. Ah. This must be the feeling of coming home and sleeping on your own warm, cozy bed after a long time. I wish I could sleep all through the day. But the sunlight streaming in from my window won't let me. It hurt my eyes, so I kept them closed. Home at last.
