Chapter 1

Yuna's POV

"Are you okay, unnie? Did you eat already? Let's get something on the way home!"

"Yah, Yuna! I'm okay..."

Ever since our performance where she left the stage in pain, I can't help but pay more attention to Chaeryeong. I get upset at myself when I think about it, because I just walked away from her. I'm glad Lia unnie was there to see it though.

We settle inside the van after a long day. Our schedule wasn't too bad, but just very long. Photoshoots, interviews, vlog filming, more photoshoots. Now, we're all heading back to the dorm.

"I think I'll hit the gym when we get back," Chaeryeong says. It's me and Lia with her in the van.

My face is buried onto my phone as I try to resist the urge to lash out when they start mentioning working out this late at night. You're doing this again?? We just had a long day, and you're still thinking about losing calories?!

All these thoughts want to leave my head so badly, but I can't. It wouldn't be fair. She's always the one who talks about working harder and tries to get everyone to do as much as her. She does it in a way where it's passive—like it wouldn't matter if we did or not, but she'll let everyone know that she's on top of things first. I don't know whether to feel annoyed, or motivated.

"Yuna, do you wanna come with me?"

"Only if we get something to eat soon! I'm so hungry." Maybe I can make a deal with her.

We agree on our plans for the night. At least this way, I can talk to her one on one.

JYP Gym Room

I hop off the treadmill and go sit next Chae who's on the floor doing a plank. She has her phone in front of her as the timer.

"01:47:53..."

Wow, she can do a plank for almost 2 minutes!

I wipe off the sweat from my forehead with the towel around my shoulders. We've been in the gym for almost an hour. I sneaked in a small snack before, to save the bigger meal later. I definitely earned it today!

Chae finally drops down and starts stretching to finish the workout.

"Good job, unnie!" I say, scooting closer to her and doing my own stretches.

"I'm surprised you came with me tonight, you usually just end up going to your room."

"I wanted to get a workout in so you can't say I don't exercise," we both laugh hard. There's a few other people in here too, but it's comfortable enough.

"Yuna, I know you wanna talk to me..."

I'm caught off guard, "W-what do you mean?"

"I just know. We can talk about it now."

Damn, she's right. She's too good at reading me, always has been.

I let out a long sigh. The silence is awkward, "Chae...after our performance at Gayo Daejeon..."

Her eyes are so intense that I almost crack my words. "I'm sorry I didn't see it all happen. I was so scared when you came to the back with Lia, and both of you were in tears..."

I notice her look down at the floor, "I don't know how it all happened."

It's because you barely ate that day. You never eat before a stage.

I wait for her to say more.

"Everyone was so worried for me, but I felt like I let everyone down."

Why are you like this?? Can't you see how much you overwork yourself??

"You didn't, unnie, trust me. What I really wanna say is..." Chaeryeong's eyes connect with mine again, and I can't help but melt. This girl is something else. "...I promise to never leave your side."

"Huh? That's random!"

"Wait, listen! I mean, I wanna make sure that never happens to you again. And that you're taken care of."

"Thank you, Yuna. Thank you for thinking about me. But I'll be okay."

I smile, "Even then, I won't leave you alone, ever."

She rolls her eyes and we share another laugh. My heart can calm down in this moment. I've been waiting all week to tell her about how much that night worried me. At least she knows now.

"Now let's go get some food!!" I stand up super fast and reach my hand out for her.

She grabs it and stands with me, "Okay!"
