Yours Truly, The Girl By Your Side

Chapter 2

"Yuna and Chaeryeong are super close these days!" Ryujin smirks at the table, as she takes a bite of the breakfast she made.

"They're always that close though," Yeji responds back.

"They went to the gym the other night. I think they went to get food too, after we all went to bed." Lia interjects in the conversation.

"They better be careful. You guys remember the last time, our managers had to talk to both of them about being clingy on all of our Vlives!"

About a year ago, JYP sat down with the girls in the meeting they have every month. One of the key points was about how Yuna and Chaeryeong were too playful on screen. "It would give the fans the wrong idea," they said. All of them are already close as it is, and they can't help that, but those two specifically were being targeted and given a warning.

Yeji nods, "Right. I remember they didn't speak to each other for 2 weeks after that meeting."

"Well, it's not like they didn't want to. Yuna told me that she was frustrated afterwards, so her and Chae made a pact to prove a point to our managers," Lia chimes in again. "Ever since then, they haven't brought it up to us."

"Those girls are sneaky!" Ryujin laughs in satisfaction.

"Goodmorning!" Yuna springs in from the hallway, "Unnie, you made breakfast?!"

"Yeah, go eat!"

They all watch her make a plate, but it's stacked with food that it seemed like she was about to drop it.

"Are you gonna eat all that??" Yeji asks.

"No, it's for me and Chae!"

All of the girls at the table give each other a look. They know exactly what's happening.

"Here," Ryujin reaches out napkins to her maeknae and watch her disappear into the hall, then go into Chae's room.

Chaeryeong's POV

"Unnie, Ryujin made food and I grabbed us some breakfast!" Yuna's cheery voice shoots through my room door. It's too early to be this loud. I sit up slowly and wipe my eyes before putting on my glasses.

"Come in!"

She enters with a plate, and I notice her hair up in a messy bun tilted sideways on the top of her head. I can't help but giggle on the inside.

The smell of food smacks my face, "Here you go! Ryujin unnie made scrambled eggs and strawberry crepes!"

"Jalmeoggotsimnida!"

Today, we only have a few things on the schedule, which I'm glad. Sometimes, we're super busy where we don't get home until late at night, and it gets overwhelming.

"Yuna, thank you for bringing me food. I would have missed it being fresh if I didn't wake up on time."

"Of course. I did make a promise to you," she takes a bite of her crepe and smiles at me.

This girl is something else.

I didn't know that she was worried about me like that. It makes me feel like I was being reckless, but I don't like worrying anyone on my team. So I've been trying to watch my habits.

It's so difficult—being in this industry for this long—all I know is how to work hard and never stop. My sister tells me all the time that I can relax a little now, because I'm already here. But that can change at any time.

"Are you okay? You're spaced out again."

Yuna catches me. My eyes blink a few times before coming back, "Yeah, I'm just thinking about today."

"Well, let's think about right now! We're having breakfast, in your room, just you and me." She smiles again but this time, I can see a bit of strawberry stuck on her front tooth.

I laugh, "Yuna-yah!"

"Huh? Why are you laughing?"

"Don't talk when you eat," I'm still laughing at her. Moments like these bring me warmth. Yuna brings me back to the present moment so much easier than the other members. I can't thank her enough for just being her.
