One Week Later
Izzy's POV
I'm super nervous. Not only is a scout going to be here to watch me cheer at the football game, but scout is also here to see Willard play football.I keep telling Willard that everything will be fine and he keeps telling me the same.
When the players come out to the field, I notice that Willard isn't with them. I ask Ren where he is and Ren says that Willard's still in the locker room.
I know I'm not supposed to go to the boys locker room, but I know why Willard's probably still there.
I tell the girls that I'll be right back and run up to the school. I go inside and into the boys locker room. I turn the corner in the room and find Willard sitting on the bench, running his hands through his hair. He's wearing his football uniform and all his gear, but he still sits here.
"Willard, what are you doing in here?" I ask.
Willard looks up at me and I'm surprised to find that his eyes are filled with tears.
"Oh, Willard." I whisper, sitting next to him and running my hand through his curly brown hair.
"Izzy, I don't think I can do this. I'm gonna mess up," Willard mutters, shaking his head.
"Well, when you think like that, you're definitely gonna mess up." I say as my hand travels down to his back and I rub it tenderly. "You gotta stop thinking so much. Just go out there and play your hardest,"
Willard starts laughing and I frown.
"What?"
"Nothing. You just sound like my mom. Or my coach," Willard replies, lifting his head up so his eyes meet mine. I laugh along with him and then stand up.
"Come on, Willard, you can do this. I know you can. Don't forget that you're not the only one who has a scout watching them today," I explain. Willard nods.
"Alright. I'll go out there and show them what I'm made of," he says, grabbing his helmet and standing up.
Willard takes my hand and we walk outside together. When we get to the field, Willard gives me a hug and a kiss before putting on his helmet.
"I love you, Izzy! I hope you do well tonight!" Willard calls to me as he jogs over to the rest of his team.
"I love you too! Beat the other team for me!" I call before walking over to the other cheerleaders.

Bomont plays a great game tonight. I cheer with excitement as the game finishes with a score of 52 to 14. I run through field to give Willard a big hug and the scout who had been watching Willard play walks over to us, a big smile on his face.
"Willard Hewitt, I presume?" He asks, shaking Willard's hand. Willard nods.
"That's me, sir." He answers with a smile.
"I'm here to tell you that I think that you would be a great addition to the Georgia Bulldogs football team, kid." The scout says. Willard's eyes grow wide.
"Really?! Thank you so much, sir. Thank you. It will be an honor and a privilege to play on the team, sir." He explains with excitement. The scout nods.
"I'm sure. Perhaps we will meet again when you play for Georgia next year," the scout says before walking away.
The whole team begins to cheer for Willard and I join in. Willard wraps his arm around my shoulders and we start walking towards the school.
The scout who had been watching me walks over to us and clears her throat.
"Isabel McCormack?" She asks as she looks over at me. I nod.
"Yes ma' am?" I say.
"You did very well today. So well, in fact, that I believe that you would be a great addition to the Georgia Bulldogs cheerleading team. Congratulations, Miss McCormack." The woman says, shaking my hand. I smile.
"Thank you ma' am."
The scout walks away and Willard pulls me in for a tight hug.
"I can't believe it! We're going to college together! We're Georgia Bulldogs now!" Willard says excitedly. I laugh.
"I know! I can't believe that we get to go to college together!" I say with excitement.
I stand on my tiptoes and kiss Willard on the lips. I can't believe that for the next chapter of our lives, we're gonna be going to the University of Georgia together.
