Unexpected Things Always Happen

Chapter 3

Before the game:

Spencer and I walk out of science straight to the field. It's only 3 o'clock so the team has one hour to them selves before they have to practice for the game. Spencer and I found Aria and Jesse sitting under a big tree which gives off a lot of shade so we sat down.

"Hey guys!" Aria says with a smile she's always so bubbly I don't know how she does it.

"Hiya!" I said we all sat in a circle I had my back towards the field because Aria and Jesse claimed they need to have view of the field so they can see the guys practice.

"You do know they have one hour free right? They won't start practice until four o'clock."

"I know but I don't want to have to move!" Jesse says defensively.
We talked about girl things mostly boy bands, music in general, and of course guys.

"So Emma are you ready to pucker up for the 'Alpha'?" Spencer asks while putting air quotes when she said 'Alpha' to break the silence.

"Um I don't know about you but I'm getting 5 bucks."

"Confident much." Connor said out of no where and sits next to me nearly scaring the living crap out of me.

"Seriously could you at least give me a warning or a signal something when you join the conversation you scared me!" I said.

"I'm sorry babe I didn't mean to frighten you."

"Oh shut up." I said while slapping his arm.

"But a warning or a signal would be nice maybe I could kiss your beautiful cheeks before joining the convo. and maybe when I leave too? What do you think?" He says with a smile showing off his dimples.

"I think a simple hello would do fine or maybe a bell." I say rolling my eyes.

"But that's so boring and I'm not a cat, besides this is more fun and if I do this you will definitely know it's me." He says with a smirk.

"I think Emma should be the one who does the kissing for now." Spencer says trying to lower the tension.

"Whatever but someone is going to end up being the kisser whether you like it or not, it could be you and if you're not then I'll gladly take your job." He says.

"No one is kissing no one" I say.

"But you made a bet which you have to keep, if not you don't get anything but a girls best French kiss."

"So back to reality it's 3:30 you have half a hour before practice so don't make me have to kick you out of the circle." Spencer says and raising a eyebrow at Connor with her death glare.

"Fine!" He says while throwing his hands in the air in surrender.

"So after the game my house and we're watching a movie any suggestion?" Aria asked

"No chick flicks!" I said

"Ah but Em those are the best kind!" Jesse cries.

"Oh I'm coming!" Connor yells while raising his hand and dramatically dropping it around my waist.

"Dammit! Weren't you leaving?! Bloody hell you're annoying!" Spencer half yells half growls at him.
My thoughts exactly. I think to myself.

"No, you're not its a girls night not a gang night." Aria says

"I'm still walking to your house." He states.

"Sure walk to my house but I'm not opening the front door." Ari says boldly.

"Okay don't I'll just climb the tree and get through the window to your room."

"No your not it's locked."

"Fine whatever." He finally gives in.

"Okay back to the movies." Spencer suggests

"I don't like chick flicks let's watch a comedy or an action movie?" I suggest.

"Let's watch a scary movie like Saw! Or The Conjuring!" Spencer said.

"Yeah okay I guess we're watching those two." Ari agrees

I didn't want to say anything about the movies they picked I rather stay quiet. They talked about snacks and taping sheets over her windows so the sunlight won't comes in, and to be honest I'm scared of the dark and I'm claustrophobic. I don't think could handle being in da-

"What's up?" Connor whispers in my ear which made me jump. Again this kid needs to stop scaring me.

"Bloody hell Connor you scared me." I whispered back

"Sorry babe but there's something bothering you and I can tell." Whispers back.

"Nothing's bothering me I'm fine." I whisper back a little to harsh.

"Something's up and I can tell."

"You'll just make fun of me." I say

"No I won't, I wouldn't get anything out of that now would I." I look at him in the eyes this time to make sure he was serious.

"Fine I'll tell you but promise me you won't make fun of me."

"I cross my heart." Which he says and does.

"I'm scared of horror movies anything and everything that has to do with it and that includes the dark and Halloween." I felt like I was holding my breathe after I finished. Connor only scanned my face as if he was trying to find some type of answer.

"I though it would be less serious like I don't know, you don't want to be here or your bored. "

"Well I don't want to go to that movie night thing."

"You don't have to."

"Yea but I don't want to bail on them because of a movie." He stays quiet.

"You know you're the only person besides Jake that knows that about me." I whisper back.

"Why would you tell me something like that." That made me laugh

"I don't know mostly because you asked." I shrug my shoulders

"Well how about I convince them to have a chick flick girly movie tonight and on Saturday we can have the gang horror movie night at Spencer's?"

"Why?"

"That way on Saturday the whole gang will be there no one will notice if you hide under a blanket. You're going to have to face that someday."

"Sure." I argue.

"Hey guys what if we see a horror with the whole gang on Saturday, so you girls can have chick flicks tonight." He finally announces which gets their attention.

"But Em doesn't want to see a chick flick?" Ari answered confused.

"I actually think this is best. We can have a girls night today and we watch a horror movie on Saturday." I say

"Why don't we have it at Spencer's house she has a big theater room." Connor asked

"Yea sure I think this will be great!" Spencer and the rest agree to the plan.

"You owe me big time." He whispers I can defiantly hear him smiling and he's probably deciding on what he wants me to do. Great note the sarcasm. With that he sands up and leaves to practice before the game. I feel like he's always leaving me in the middle of my thoughts.
