Forgotten

The four of them were in a car and Bucky in his own, T'Challa was in the back, Steve in front of him and Sam in front of him, and they decided they would just put Sophia in with Steve

"So" Sam said, breaking the long silence "you like cats?"

Steve sighed "Sam"

"What?" he asks annoyed "Dude shows up dressed like a cat and you don't wanna know more?"

Sophia shrugs "He's got a point"

Steve ignores them and talks to T'Challa "Your suit... it's Vintanium?"

"The Black Panther had been the protector of Wakanda for generations" T'Challa says "A mantle, passed from warrior. And now, because your friend murdered my father, I also wear the mantle of king. So, I ask you... as both warrior and king... how long do you think you can keep your friend safe from me?"

They arrive at the place and the four of them get out of the car, walking towards Sharon who's standing with a grey-head man"

"What's gonna happen to him?" Steve asks, referring to Bucky

"Same thing that ought to happen to you" the man said "Psychological evaluation and extradition"

Sophia looked at him confused, not knowing who he was "Who are you?"

"This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander" Sharon said, then looked at Sophia "Your fathers waiting for you, just thought I'd give you a heads up"

Sophia sucked in a breath and looked to the floor, she knew he dad would be mad, and she was dreading having to face him

"What about our lawyer?" Steve asks

"Lawyer?" Ross holds back a small laugh "That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. Oh, we'll write you a receipt" he then snaps his fingers and points to Sophia

Some walks up to her and takes her wrist, putting a bracelet type thing on it "What the hell is this?"

"That will stop you from using your powers, until further notice" Ross tells her

"What?" Steve snaps, not happy that his nieces powers, which she has spent months learning to control, were being taken away from her

"How is that fair?" Sam questions "She's a kid"

"A kid who could blow up and entire city with her mind" Ross retaliated "This is needed"

"I can control it, you know"

"We can't risk it"

Sophia rolls her eyes as people walk past, holding the three mens suits "I better not see anyone flying around in that" Sam ays as they start walking

They get to a covered sky walk when Ross starts talking "You'll be provided with an office instead of a cell. Now, do me a favour, stay in it?"

"I don't intend on going anywhere" T'Challa says

Natasha comes to walk beside Sophia and Steve and starts talking to Steve, something that Sophia doesn't listen to

She only starts listening when she hears her name, she turns her head to the side to see Natasha looking at her "You okay, little one?"

Sophia only nods and smiles as they get to the main part of the building, her smile drops as she sees her father on the phone

"Consequences? You bet there'll be consequences. Obviously you can quote me on that 'cause I just said it. Anything else? Thank you sir" he hangs up and Steve looks at him, confused

"'Consequences'?"

"Secretary Ross wants you prosecuted" Tony answers "Had to give him something"

Steve stops walking and Sophia stops beside him "I'm not getting that shield back, am I?"

Natasha walks on but turns back and says "Technically, it's the government's property. Wings, too"

Sam shakes his head slightly "That's cold"

"Warmer than jail" Tony shouts back, then points to his daughter "Sophia, you're coming with me"

Sophia sucks in a breath and mutters "Wish me luck" and follows her dad into a room with windows around it as walls

"Have a seat" she does as she's told and sits on one of the chairs at the table that took up the whole room. Once she's settled he starts "What were you thinking?"

"Bucky's my friend" she whispers', avoiding eye contact with him

"Your friend?" he scoffs "You've never met him before"

"Yes I have!" she shouts, now looking at him "I met him at HYDRA, he helped me dad"

"He helped you? How?"

"He... cared" she admits "He cared when no one else did. I don't know why he cared but he did and he let me talk to him and take my anger out on him whenever I wanted"

"I thought you had the Maximoff twins"

She nods "I did, but I met Bucky before I met them. he was there for me before them"

Tony narrowed his eyes at his daughter "So what? He showed you some affection and now you'll protect even if it means you get arrested, or worst, killed!"

"Can you stop shouting" she whispered, her hands shaking and tears welling in her eyes

She never liked when people shouted at her, it reminded her about her time spent in HYDRA when they all shouted at her when she didn't do something the way she was suppose to, then they would proceed to torture her to make sure she wouldn't make the same mistake the next time

Tony noticed her shaking hands and the tears in her eyes and took a deep breath "I'm sorry, little one" he sat down next to her, taking her hands in his and squeezing "I was just worried about you"

"I'm sorry" she whispered, keeping her head down "I just wanted to help him"

"I know" he said "But you can't do stuff like that, not anymore, not with the Accords. Do you understand" he said in a soft tone as she nods

Was she going to listen to him? Probably not. But she had to make him think she was, it was just easier

They hear a knock on the door and look up to see Natasha standing there. Tony knew what she wanted, so he stood up, gave Sophia a kiss on her head and walked out, leaving Natasha and Sophia alone

"Hey, little one" Nat greeted, sitting in the chair Tony was only a few seconds before

"Hey, Nat" she smiled

"Did you have fun breaking the law with your uncle Steve?" she asks, making Sophia groans and look at the roof

"Please, don't start" she pleas

"I just wanted to know if you had a good time" Nat smiled, then scans her face, seeing a few cuts "Looks like you got a few hits" she gently runs her finger over the cut on Sophia's eye brow

"I got out better than any of them" Sophia defended "They aren't even conscious"

"They better not be, I taught you better than that" Nat jokes, making Sophia smile

"Hey... um" she lefts up her arm, showing the bracelet around her wrist "You think you can get this off me?"

Nat looks at her with sympathy "I'm sorry, little one. But I can't do that, you know I would if I could"

Sophia frowns, nodding "Yeah, I know"

Natasha rests her hand on top of Sophia's "You alright?"

"Yeah, are you?" she asks, worried that she had gotten injured when the UN building was blew up

Nat smiles softly "I'm okay, don't worry" she wraps her arms around the young girl she has come to love as her own

Natasha Romanoff might never be able to have a kid of her own, but she has Sophia, she would do anything to protect her, and that would never change
