Chapter Eight

All throughout the lesson, Florence noticed that the DADA professor kept glancing at her. After Lupin's class ends, the friend group of four is walking out of the room. Once the small group of Hufflepuffs and Slytherins are a fair distance away from the classroom, Florence brings up what has been on her mind since the defense against the dark arts class began.

"Did you all notice the way professor Lupin reacted when he first saw me?" Florence asks her friend group.

The Ramos girl received a chorus of "No"s. Cedric adds on "I was too distracted by your beauty while you were talking."

Elodie and Logan fake gag at Cedric's words. The Hufflepuff girl tries to suppress her blush before continuing, "He stopped mid-sentence when he looked at me. His face was drained of colour, and he kept looking at me throughout class."

Logan is the first to say something. "Do you think he knew your mum when she was in school?"

"Professor Lupin looks older than Wren's mum though, so I doubt they were in the same year," conveys Cedric.

"Well Cedric, I wasn't saying that professor Lupin and Mrs. Ramos were in the same year, just that they were at Hogwarts around the same time" Logan clarifies.

"Maybe he tutored your mum?" Elodie tries to reason.

"If he does know your mum it would make sense as to why he would look at you the way you say he did." Logan contributes to the conversation.

"You do look like a younger version of your mother, aside from your eyes and hair color," Cedric adds.

Florence ponders over what her friends say. "He has to have some sort of connection to my mother," the Ramos girl concludes.

"You could always send your mum a letter," suggests Cedric. Florence nods "yes" to her boyfriend's idea.

Later on in the evening Florence and Cedric are sitting in the Hufflepuff common room near the fireplace. While Cedric is thinking up strategies for quidditch practice, Florence is writing a letter home to her mother Guinevere. 

Dear mami,

How are you? How is papi? Has there been any progress in capturing Sirius Black? Is the ministry working you and papi extra hard?

Daniel is fine, he was sorted into Gryffindor! Danny has already made a friend. Are you and papi alright now that Danny isn't at home? I know you must miss him a lot.The first day of classes was fine, I have history of magic first on Mondays, which is dreadful. Can't Hogwarts hire someone to replace professor Binns?

I'm actually writing to you because there is a new defense against the dark arts professor. His name is Remus Lupin, I had his class today (Monday) as well. At the beginning of class he looked at me as though he had seen someone from his past, he also kept taking glances at me throughout the lesson. Do you know him? Did you two go to school together?
