Florence Ramos comes from a long line of powerful magic wielders.

Her mother's side of the family are descendants of a coven of wizards and witches who performed a ritual to enhance their magic in order to protect themselves from vikings during Medieval Times, this form of magic came to be called "ancient magic." Those who possess the power to wield ancient magic have a distinction between them and other magical folks, their eyes. Their irises turn gold when they use their magic to cast spells. On the occasion there will be an ancient magic wielder born with either the ability to have visions, similar to seers, or control one of the earth's elements. Typically all ancient magic users can perform wandless magic, a more chaotic form of magic. They are able to perform spells with wands — both regular and ancient magic spells, but regarding incantations of ancient magic spells, they are more powerful when performed without a wand.

From a young age, Florence had to learn to control her magic. With her enhanced form of magic Florence needs to be more careful, for becoming too overwhelmed with emotions can cause an outburst which could lead to shattering all of the windows in the Ramos residence, or if there is a lit candle around ― setting a whole room on fire.

Now at age 15, Florence has better control over her ancient magic, but still has to be careful.

During the summer leading into her 5th year at Hogwarts, Florence tended to spend a lot of time with her best friends Logan Jordan, Elodie Yung, and her childhood best friend turned boyfriend Cedric Diggory.

Currently Florence was laying in the grass at the Diggory residence, watching Cedric fly around on his broom.

Suddenly, Elodie and Logan emerged from the Diggory house with a plate of chips and ketchup. Both girls sat down next to Florence. As soon as the Jordan and Yung girls sat down, Florence sat up from her position on the grass.

"Do you still feel weird now that you and Ced are dating?" asked Logan as she ate her chips.

"A bit, like we've been friends for so long. It's still a bit strange...being able to hang out with him and stuff but now also getting to kiss him. Sometimes it's awkward, but mami says that's how it is in the beginning."

"I guess, I mean you guys have only been dating for a little over a month," interjected Elodie. "But your dynamic with Ceddie is great, so you'll get through the awkwardness of your relationship soon."

Just as the conversation was coming to an end, Liana Diggory approached the girls with sandwiches and glasses of lemonade.

"Thank you Mrs. Diggory" the three girls expressed their gratitude in unison as they each got up to grab the food Liana brought them before sitting down in a circle.

"Sweetheart, come down to eat" yelled Liana at her son so he could hear her from where he was in the sky.

Cedric landed gracefully on the ground. With his feet back on the grass, he started walking over to where the four females were. Taking a sandwich and a glass of lemonade, Cedric gave his mother a wide smile before settling down beside Florence in the small circle that the girls created.

Once all four teens were seated with their food and drinks, Liana went back inside. After a moment to make sure that his mother was inside so that she could not gush over the young couple, Cedric wrapped his arm around the Ramos girl and pressed a kiss to her temple before tucking into his lunch. The Hufflepuff boy smiled to himself as he watched his girlfriend's cheeks flush pink.

Even though Florence and Cedric have been dating for over a month, the Ramos girl can't help but blush whenever Cedric gives her a kiss, even if it's just a kiss on the cheek or to her forehead.

"Have you heard from Nate recently?" questioned Cedric after swallowing the bite of his sandwich that he had taken. As soon as Nathaniel was brought up both Logan and Elodie glanced at each other with a knowing look before waiting on Florence's response.

"Yeah, we talked over the telephone the other day. He said he won't be able to come over this summer, explained that he'll be busy with an internship at MACUSA that auntie Astrid got for him," explained Florence, her mood deflating a bit.

"Oh" Cedric responded dejectedly.

"I was hoping that he would visit. I wanted to show him the new moves I've been practicing on my broom" Cedric continued on.

"Well Lorrie, maybe the next time you talk with Nathaniel you could suggest for him and his parents to visit during Christmas break" recommended Logan, Elodie nodding along. Both girls know how close the two Hufflepuffs are with the American wizard, so Nathaniel not being able to visit meant that the two Slytherin girls had to comfort the Hufflepuff couple.

"That's a good idea! Thanks Logan" Florence said, now in a slightly better mood.

Around 15 minutes later the four teens finished the food that Mrs. Diggory had made them. Florence gathered the dishes and took them to the kitchen. On her way back out to where her boyfriend and best friends were sitting, Florence asked-

"How's your brother been?"

"Are you actually asking me how Lee is or if he's been bothering Angelina?" Questioned Logan with a laugh.

Rolling her eyes, Florence responded with "Has he been sending Angie any letters? I haven't been in touch with her recently since she told me before school let out that she was going on holiday with her family for the summer."

"Lucky! All I'm gonna do this summer is spend time with you three and my brother" moaned Logan sadly.

"You're acting like hanging with us is a bad thing" teased Cedric to his Slytherin friend.

"I'm insulted" said Elodie in a light hearted tone.

"You, Dodie, and Lorrie I'm good with, it's Lee who I have to deal with," explained the curly haired girl with a roll of her eyes. "He likes to joke that we're meant to be enemies just because I got sorted into Slytherin and he got into Gryffindor."

Elodie shuffled closer to Logan, "Well since he's friends with the Weasley twins maybe that's why? They're proud Gryffindor pranksters, so maybe he just wants to emulate their jokester relationship with you."

"I hope so because we used to be so close while growing up, but being sorted into different houses caused a bit of a rift between us" continued to explain Logan.

Florence, Cedric and Elodie looked at one another before moving to pull Logan into a group hug.

"Get off of me you saps" Logan laughed, all four friends are thankful that they are always there for one another when in need.
