Suddenly, something went BOOM.
From what Penellaphe could see, the forum was blast into pieces. What was left from the previous battle was completely destroyed. Explosions echoed loudly, along with shouts, screams, and clattering noises. Penellaphe turned around and glared back at Annabeth, who looked absolutely clueless.
"Please tell me this isn't your doing." Penellaphe asked, emphasizing every word.
"Of course not, why would we attack the Romans?" Annnabeth said, cursing Juno under her breath
"If I find out otherwise..." Penellaphe threatened and dashed off to the battlefield, she couldn't believe her eyes. First Jason, now the camp? How much worse could it get?
Jason and Piper were shielding themselves from the angry mob of Romans, who were using plates and glass cups as weapons, throwing it at them. Jason's cape was shredded as he held his hand to block off the objects. Tiny droplets of blood rolled down his forearm and onto the ground, while Piper cried out desperately to stop the Romans. Then out of nowhere, a brick was thrown to hit Piper, but Jason stepped in front of her and got knocked down, unconscious. Piper screamed Jason's name but she couldn't do anything. She had nothing on her to protect both of them.
Penellaphe rushed forward to stop the Romans but Frank beat her to it, he swiped down in his dragon form and carried Jason and Piper onto the ship. Annabeth ran off to find Percy, while Reyna came running towards her.
"You know you have to go," Reyna muttered to her, "the prophecy. I'll try to stop them from attacking the ship, but you know how angry they are going to be."
"I would not stand for this. Rome is my home and I'm not going anywhere."Penellaphe stated, "What would I become, a traitor, Reyna, a traitor. I have no home, if I step out of camp now, even if I survive the war, I have nowhere else to go."
"Percy would never allow this, and neither do I. There will always be a place for you. Now go, before it's too late." Reyna said, giving her a tight hug and pushed her towards the ship, "Go kill some monsters for me, Poppy!"
Penellaphe laughed at her best friend, who she considered as a sister, and gave her a solute before grabbing Annabeth's hand and rolled onto the deck. From the corner of her eye, she could make out the Octavian pushing aside Reyna and commanding the Romans, she could even hear the Romans muttering, "Penellaphe, traitor of Rome" as the ship descended into the sky. She was wrong, it got much worse than she anticipated. She spent her whole life to become the great praetor of Rome, and the title she had on for only ten months was taking away from her within seconds. From Annabeth's conversation with Leo, she knew it was him who fired on the camp. She wanted to strangle Leo so much, but she knew she couldn't. If she had made a move on Leo, the tension between all eight demigods on the ship would be even more intense, and the last thing everyone wanted was a civil war between each other when the great threat was still out there, powerful more than ever. She walked over to Leo, and glared at him,
"I want a brief overview of how to restart the ship in ten minutes, what supplies do we need and how much time do we have until we have to start our quest."
Leo nodded at the girl, too scared to say otherwise and dashed off to the control area. For a girl who was even shorter than he was, Penellaphe could be extremely fierce and frightening as Annabeth.
Penellaphe took a seat in the dining hall and sighed. Percy sat next to her and reassured her with empty promises, but Penellaphe was still glad to have him with her, along with Hazel and Frank as well. Penellaphe sat there, not knowing what to do. She wanted so badly to check on Jason, who was bellow deck in the infirmary with Piper, but she knew better than to act irrationally, he was in good hands with Piper. Leo excitedly ran up to the group with his game controllers on one hand, but when he saw Penellaphe's intense glance, he dropped his smile and reported,
"Everything we need to repair the ship is in one place, we can get there in five minutes maximum."
Penellaphe nodded her head and looked at Annabeth, who looked relieved to hear somewhat of a good news.
Once they landed, Penellaphe immediately walked off the gangplank and whistled. A beautiful white horse galloped over and abruptly stopped in front of her. Snowflake, she thought happily as Snowflake nuzzled his head in her hair. The horse was gifted to her on her fifteenth birthday from her mother, which is the only thing Penellaphe had from her mother, considering Roman gods don't visit their children that often. She hopped onto Snowflake and turned to the others,
"I'm going out to gather some herbs for Jason, I'll be back in a few minutes." Penellaphe shouted from the ground and looked up at all of them, "be careful, I better see all of you alive when I get back."
And just like that, she was off, racing into the field, with her long ginger hair flowing behind her back.
