Vengeance is ours

Chapter 1

AN: This story has gore in it so please beware!
I had the 2012 tmnt in mind as I wrote this but it could probably work in other universes too.

April picked up her T-phone and rang Leonardo, an action proving to be more difficult than she first thought as she struggled to hold onto the several boxes of pizza she was planning on surprising the turtles with. Leonardo picked up just as the signal had rung four times and she had managed to balance the pizzas.

"Leo, finally! I thought you were never going to pick up." she let out an airy laugh.

She could almost hear the sheepish look Leonardo was pulling on the other line through his tone. "Sorry, April. The guys and I have been watching this new show and-"

She cut him off. "It's okay, it's okay... but um, do you mind if I come over for a while? I'm only a few blocks away." She often crashed at the lair, feeling safer with her secret mutant friends than anywhere else. Most of the time she didn't even bother letting them know beforehand that she was coming over, her unexpected arrivals always ended up being happy surprises anyway. Today felt different though, for some reason April felt the need to let her friends know she was coming.

"Sure, but we're probably just going to continue watching the show," Leonardo responded.

"That sounds great. Actually, I have a little surprise for you guys that I think will go well with-" the sentence was cut off with a shriek and a thud, indicating that the phone had been dropped.

As April had rounded a corner she suddenly felt a shiver run through her body, when she turned around she was faced with the intimidating eyes of Tigerclaw glowering at her. The initial shock caused her to drop the things she was holding. Her face turned completely white and her hands quickly reached for the tessen she had hidden under her raincoat.

"April? April, hello? What happened?" Leonardo's distorted voice could be heard at a low volume, coming from the cracked phone on the ground.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" The booming voice belonging to the tiger drowned out Leonardo's questioning. The desperate turtle on the other line must have annoyed him as the phone was almost immediately crushed under his paw.

April gasped, knowing that her contact with her friends had been cut and she was left on her own to face off against the mutant assassin. She didn't dare to shoot a clever comeback his way, she knew she would be a fool to annoy Shredder's strongest ally further.

Tigerclaw smirked at her and he was quick to reach for his gun, not wasting a second he started shooting in her direction. April was thankful for all the training sessions she had managed to have with Splinter's before his passing as she easily evaded the shots with the technique of a real kunoichi. She bent her body almost like a contortionist as the gun aimed at her fired shot after shot, her tessen taking some damage as she blocked her face from being hit.

Tigerclaw grew frustrated that his shots weren't hitting his target and he discarded his gun, reaching instead for his machete. As he switched weapons April saw a chance to escape. She spun around and started running as fast as her legs could carry her, speeding up even more as she heard Tigerclaw growling and swinging his machete after her.

As she rounded a corner and ran through a small alley she noticed that Tigerclaw no longer was directly behind her. Slowing down and catching her breath, she looked around the alley for the piercing yellow eyes belonging to her enemy. 'Where the hell did he go?' she wondered.

However, just as she was gathering up the energy to keep running again, Tigerclaw took his chance and sneaked up on her from behind. As soon as April noticed his presence behind her, it was too late. He put one of his giant paws over her mouth to stop her from screaming, his arm tightening around her throat subsequently choking her. In his other hand was his sharp machete.
