Rose Smith stumbled out of a bar. She was incredibly drunk. Her husband John was walking home when he noticed Rose. He swore in Gallifreyan and walked over to Rose and caught her when she fell. He picked her up and carried her to his house and opened the door and walked in and closed the door with his foot and walked up the stairs into his room and set her on his bed and tucked her in. Rose was asleep. Then he sat down in an armchair beside the bed. She mumbled incoherently. He watched his wife sleep. He wanted to be closeby in case Rose needed him. John frowned. He wondered why she'd gotten drunk to begin with. John grabbed his phone and called Donna and Clara. John was determined to find out what happened. The two women came over straight away. They walked quietly up the stairs into his room. Donna said: "We made sure to be quiet when we came up the stairs. What happened to Rose?" John frowned and said bewildered: "She's drunk. I don't know why she'd gotten drunk to begin with. That's why I called you two women. I was hoping you two women might be able to shed some light on the situation." Clara said: "Donna and I were with Rose briefly. When we left her, she wasn't drunk. However, I did get the feeling that something was wrong. So I told Donna to stick around. She hid in a alley. I was concealed in the bar. When Rose came out, we followed her. My instincts are usually spot on. And my instincts told me to keep an eye on Rose. I'm surprised you didn't see us. We're just as bewildered as you are." John sighed and said: "This isn't good. A drunk Time Lord isn't good. Believe me, I would know. I don't particularly feel like elaborating. Would you two women mind staying?" Donna was already on the job. She was calling Amy, Martha, River, and Evelina. Clara looked at Donna and said: "Looks like Donna is a step ahead. We anticipated that you'd ask us to stay. So we packed a bag. I think Donna's telling the other women to pack a bag. We'll stay as long as you need us to. Rose is our friend. She's taken care of us more times than we can count. Now it's our turn to repay the favor." John said: "Thanks." Then Donna hung up. Then John sighed. Donna and Clara took that as their cue to leave the room. John stood and slid into bed beside Rose and took her in his arms. Rose mumbled incoherently. He stayed there with Rose the entire night. He fell asleep. The next morning, Rose woke up and moaned and looked over and saw John beside her. She gently shook his arm. John stirred and woke up and said: "Hey. You okay?" Rose said: "I have one hell of a hangover. Wait, where am I?" John said: "You're in my house. I carried you here." Rose said: "I'm sure you have questions." John said: "I do. But first, why don't you get cleaned up? I know a thing or two about curing hangovers." Rose said: "Sounds great." Then she slid out of bed and walked into the bathroom and undressed and took a shower. Meanwhile, John slid out of bed and got dressed for the day and walked into the kitchen and set to work fixing breakfast for Rose. Then Clara walked into the kitchen and said: "Good morning, John. How's Rose?" John said: "She has one hell of a hangover. I'm fixing breakfast for Rose right now." Clara said: "How are you?" John said: "I don't know. I wish I knew why she'd gotten drunk to begin with." Clara said: "Well, I'm sure you'll find out. In the meantime, us women better split. I'm sure you'll want to find out alone." John smiled faintly and said: "Thank you, Clara. You and the other women. You are the best friend I could ever ask for. You and Donna and the other women didn't hesitate to come over when I called. And I'm so grateful for that. Hug?" Clara smiled softly and said: "Of course. Come here." She pulled him into her arms and hugged him. It was a friendly hug. After a while they pulled away. John said: "I should probably bring this up to Rose." Clara said: "I'll help you. I don't think you'll be able to carry the orange juice without it falling and spilling all over the place." John said: "Thanks. I don't know what I would do without you guys." Clara smiled and said: "John, this is a gift. The gift of a friend. Believe me, being alone is like living in a world without light. Your friends are the light." Just then Clara's phone rang. She dug it out of her pocket and answered her phone and said: "Hello?" She listened. Then she said: "Wait, slow down there, Doctor. You're making no sense. Now start from the beginning and speak slowly for crying out loud. I swear, you're worse than your tenth incarnation. And he's currently standing right next to me. Geez!" Then the Doctor spoke again, this time more slowly. When he was done, Clara said: "Yikes. That's not good. Come on over. We'll come up with a plan." Then she hung up and stuck her phone in her pocket and shook her head and sighed and said: "Trouble." John said: "Let's get this up to Rose. And then have everyone meet us upstairs."
