I have a skill issue

(PLEASE READ THE FF.NET VERSION, I AM TOO LAZY TO PROPERLY CHANGE THE ITALICS AND BOLD, BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON THEY DON'T TRANSLATE WHEN COPY AND PASTED)

Detour-unexpected edition

I panted and cursed as I finally fell onto the grass from exhaustion.

"God damn it, why did I have to lose that dumb map."

"Sven, you can stop now." I said as my starter quickly stopped searching around, I patted his head before grabbing some random berries off of a tree.

"Here, eat some of these." I said as he quickly munched into the berries with glee.

So basically, I was just trotting along all daisy with Sven by my side when suddenly a flock of Starly striked and stole my map.

Then, I ordered Sven to chase after the starly but these Starly, as should be, were expert aerial maneuvers and my poor Riolu couldn't keep up with them and land a clean strike.

Now, we've been wandering around for a while now and have gotten no progress without a map.

"This didn't happen in my previous life..."

"Might as well do some training while we're at it, I guess."

"Sven, the training we are about to do will be slightly different from the previous times." I said as Sven looked at me, curiosity burning in his eyes.

"You will be fighting against Pokemon." I said as Sven nodded before getting into a fighting stance.

"Now, the Pokemon here are relatively peaceful, So we won't be fighting wild ones." I stated, "we will be fighting trained pokemon!"

Sven nodded, immediately understanding what I meant.

I grinned with excitement at his enthusiastic personality, "There's a trainer over there...it's pretty common for trainers to be around this area to train up their pokemon."

"Hey, Would you like a Pokemon battle!" The trainer said as I approached closer.

"I was going to challenge you to one either way, so of course yes." I responded and thus the pokemon battle began.

"My first pokemon battle, let's see how it goes!"

"Go, Ize!" The opposing trainer shouted and released a Budew, which is a relatively weak pokemon at this stage but could cause trouble with Stun spore and other status moves.

"Sven, Go!"

Sven leapt into a fighting stance, awaiting my commands.
"Quick attack with chain strike!"

It is common in fights for trainers to give names for specific fighting techniques they use, combination techniques or variations of actual moves.

Chain-strike is a simple technique in which Sven uses quick attack to create momentum and to use surroundings to land a multi hit combo from multiple directions.

"absorb!"

Sven quickly released a flurry of strikes from multiple directions on multiple body parts which also allowed him to cancel out the absorb.

"Ize, Stun spore!"\

"Sven, dodge and use quick attack!"

Sven swiftly dodged the spores before landing a clean uppercut with a quick attack, "Kick combo!"

Sven used his legs to release a barrage of kicks and the combo ended with a clean punch to the face.

After the kick combo, Budew collapsed onto the floor, fainted.
