The battle

This chapter will be a bit shorter, for 2 main reasons I will go over at the end of the chapter.

Nick stood in front of the entrance to the Eterna City gym, the gym was surprisingly big, He stepped into the registration room, and they directed him to the waiting room, due to there being a large abundance of challengers.

He sat on one of the lounges, it was one of the private lounges, They said it was offered only to those that showed promising talent, which Nick found quite flattering.

"Heh, I didn't expect to see another trainer here." I heard, It came from a haughty-looking teenager, around my age.

"Hello, I am Calvin Reschizer, or what you might have heard people refer to me as..."

"The Moonlight walker."

"Yes, I heard quite a bit about you." Nick said, "Nice to meet you, I am Nick Devolver."

"How many badges?" Calvin calmly asked, "One badge."

"Hmm, why did they add you to this lounge?"

"The team Roark used against me was a special team, only reserved for challengers higher than that of his typical 1st gym leader team," Nick explained calmly, "I lost the battle due to my incompetence, so I think in terms of skill, you are superior."

"Who knows." Calvin said, "it seems there is someone worth staying for here, I am quite interested to know the level of skill you are at."

"Are you here for your 3rd badge?" Nick asked, Cavin simply shook his head.

"I already got my badge for this gym, it was my 2nd," Calvin explained, "I was told to stay here for a while, so I simply decided to stay at the gym, to observe some of the matches, maybe improve my overall skill level."

"He seems to be quite knowledgeable about this, he is..."

"A true genius."

"May I have a look at your Pokemon, I will reveal mine too." Calvin politely asked, Nick simply nodded his head.

Nick released his Pokemon, and in a flash of red light, Sven, Bellator, and Sicarius all appeared.

"Hmm, an interesting Lineup, It seems that Ralts is about to evolve..."

"Quite impressive, now I will reveal mine." Calvin released his Pokemon, which were Staravia, Luxio, and Porygon.

"Omnis here is my starter," Calvin said, pointing at the Porygon.

"Those are incredibly rare and also expensive!" Nick exclaimed, eyes widening.

"I guess this is the life of a rich person..."

"Which one of your Pokemon is your starter?" Calvin asked curiously.

"It's Sven, the Riolu, I randomly found him in the forest where the daycare I live in is," Nick replied, Calvin simply nodded.

After that, Nick and Calvin had a bit of small talk, nothing much, but Nick enjoyed it for what it was

"Attention, Nick Devolver, please come up to the stage!"

"Well, I gotta go I guess." Nick said, "it was a pleasure to meet you!"

"I will head over to the spectator lounge, I am going to watch your fight with interest," Calvin said, before heading in the opposite direction.

He walked down the corridor, before opening the door to the battle stadium.

"Welcome to the Eterna city gym, I am Gardenia, the gym leader here! Said a cheerful orange-haired woman.
