CHAPTER THREE: PERFECTION AT ITS BESTI quickly grabbed my phone and ran out of the door. "Bye Jul!" I shout on my way out, "See ya later!"
I ran to what he sent me to go; the abandoned park. Out of all places in New York, you pick the place that's abandoned.
"Whoa there, I'm right here," a deep voice chuckles. "O-oh, yeah sorry," I back up a few steps.
"Well anyways, my name is Andrew, but you can call me Andy," he puts out his hand. Who in the twenty first century does that anymore? But just out of politeness, I shake it.
"My name is Rae," I smile. "What a lovely name for a beautiful girl," he flashes a charming smile that would make any girls knees weak.
But luckily, I stayed steady. "Thanks," I blush and smile. Then I remember, this guy called me. First: how did he know my number? And second: why did he choose to call me?
"So Andy, how did you get my number?" I ask, a little bit of suspicion in my voice. He chuckles and steps forwards.
"That's for me to know and you to not," he smiles mischievously. "Hmm, mysterious, nice," I nod, biting my lip.
"So, why I brought you here is because I wanted to get to know you better. Go on a date," he smiles. I smile as well, "I would like to get to know you too, mystery man."
-At the restaurant-
"Is there anything else I can get you two?" The waiter asks politely, setting our pleasantly well plated meals. "No, thank you," Andy nods him off.
I place my left hand on my lap as I twirled the fork on the lettuce leaf. "Has anyone ever told you how stunning you are?" Andy asks, taking me by surprise by his silky voice.
"While I'm eating? You're the first," I playfully reply. He laughs lightheartedly, "You are the only woman who can eat and still look beautiful, in my eyes at least."
I smile cheekily hiding the dark blush that's trying to overtake my face. "T-thank you Andy," "Don't thank me for something that wasn't a compliment, Rae." He says seriously.
"What?" I ask quietly, confusion flustering my mind at his sudden change in demeanor. "I wasn't complimenting you; I was simply telling the truth," he says charmingly.
I couldn't contain the blush from waving over my face. "You really know how to charm a woman, don't you?" I laugh, dabbing at my mouth, collecting the nonexistent remains.
"Only you, Miss. Ivory," he states formally. I tilt my head to the side, "I don't recall telling you my last name?"
"I guess it's magic," he says handing the waiter the check, "Shall we?" He places his hand in offering. I smile, placing my hand in his.
I almost gasp aloud. His fingers were ice cold! But I just brush it off, not wanting to ruin the evening.
We walk out of the restaurant, hand in hand. "Mind if I walk you home, Rae?" Every time my name slips off his tongue; it makes my stomach churn, in the good, fluttery kind of way.
"No not at all," I respond. "I know a shortcut near your block," he mumbles.
Then I remembered... Out of all the years I've lived in this town, we've never had one shortcut to anywhere near my block... _______________________
