Ch. 7
7:25 pm
His smile was warm.
And his dimples held sunshine.
Who knew a smile like that could exist?
I didn't.
"Harry! How are you?" Claire gave him a hug.
"I've been good, Merry Christmas!"
Claire took the Egg Nog from him.
"Merry Christmas to you too! Come in, meet the family! They're here from the states!"
He steps in, shaking his dark caramel brown hair.
He has curls.
I didn't know boys with long hair could be cute.
But you learn something new every day.
"let me set these down."
Claire disappears into the kitchen, leaving the five of us alone.
"Hello! It's nice to meet you, I'm Carrie." My mom shakes his hand.
"And I'm Doug. These are our kids Damien our son, and Drew our daughter."
Damien and I stand up.
Damien greets him, shaking his hand.
Then he looks to me.
"Hi."
He shoots me a toothy grin.
"Hi Drew."
I feel my face heat up.
He has Green eyes.
"Now that everyone's introduced, let's play another game!"
My brother looks up from his phone.
"Heck yaaaa. We have an even number now, how about some Catch Phrase?"
Damien loved that game.
I avoided Harry's eyes.
I didn't want to stare.
Well, I did want to stare.
But he doesn't need to know that.
"Sure, I can stay for a bit."
He takes off his jacket.
He has Tattoos.
A lot of them.
My mind goes back to Mathew and what he said once;
"Tattoos are disgusting, why would anyone get permanently marked like that?"
He never wanted any.
Obviously.
We all sat around the coffee table.
Three on each team.
Egg Nog was passed out to everyone.
Except my brother.
He'd had three cups already.
"Thanks Ms. Claire." Harry took his mug.
I smiled and thanked my aunt, taking my mug also.
"I wish I could find this all year round. I love it." He looked to me.
I nodded back.
"But if we had it all year round, I think it would lose its specialness."
There was that grin again.
"I think you're right."
We went back to the setup, Damien was explaining the rules.
Silence ensued between us.
He was paying attention to Damien.
I glanced at his tattoos, trying to see what they were.
He looked down at me.
God is he tall.
"Which one do you want to know about?"
My eyes snapped up to his.
"U-um. I was just admiring. They're nice."
They're nice?
Why would I say that?
I cringed internally.
"Yea I'd like to think so."
He turned his attention back to my brother.
Could that have gone any worse?
-
10:00 pm.
Harry said he had to go.
He seemed to get along very well with everyone.
He was funny.
And sweet.
And charming.
Gosh knows he made my mom blush thirty times.
My dad and Damien enjoyed his company also.
The three of them were very competitive.
"Goodnight Harry! It was nice having you, don't be a stranger!"
Aunt Claire gave him a hug and handed him his coat.
"I'll try not to be. You lot are fun to be around."
He waved goodbye to us.
His eyes caught mine before he walked out the door.
He seemed to smile brighter at me.
But no, I was imagining things.
"Okay kids, we're off to bed. We've got a busy day tomorrow."
My parents said goodnight to us all.
"Would you two like to stay up with me? I've got Christmas classics!"
Damien and I said yes.
The three of us curled up on the couch.
The original Claymation of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer popped up on the screen
About an hour in, Claire and my brother fell asleep.
I stared at the clock.
11:07 pm
My mind wandered.
And before I knew it, I was thinking about Mathew.
The first time I met him.
Hey guys, it's time for a flashback! But you won't get it till Friday. Sorry, but a girl's gotta make you wait. xD I hope you guys are enjoying. Don't forget to vote, comment and share!
