Biana POV:
My chair clacked against the ones beside it as I stood up and walked cautiously next to the hospital bed. Had I heard that wrong? Surely he couldn't have said my name, but everyone looked at me knowingly.
I couldn't believe this. I walked closer to the hospital bed until my lower thighs were grazing the toppled over sheets.
"Tam?" I whispered
"Biana" Tam breathed. It sounded as if he was in ease
"Are you okay? Need me to get the doctor? We probably should considering you just got up" I said nervously, looking around the room for a button of some type.
Tam's eyes fluttered open, and his pale blue eyes met mine. I had to hold in my breath.
Even though his one eye was slightly bruised and his face was pale and sunken, he looked beautiful.
He smiled, "Hi," he said quietly, but once the words had escaped his mouth, a look of concern crossed his face.
"Biana?" He asked.
"Yes? Linh's getting a doctor don't worry. Everything's going to be okay," I said. I'm not exactly sure if I was telling that to him, or me. As if on que, Linh burst through the doors with two doctors trailing behind.
"I'm going to have to ask everyone visiting to sit outside of this room while we do some normal procedures." The doctor ordered.
We all nodded and a nurse escorted us to the waiting room.
----------------2 hours later--------------
I wasn't sure how long a 'normal procedure' was going to take but guessing by the 2 hours that have gone by, something wasn't right. I heard the doors of the hospital room squeak open and the nurse told us that The doctor was ready to see us. We walked into the room and sat down in a chairs facing toward what I guessed was the main Doctor in the check-up.
"I gather you all are close to Mr. Song?" The doctor asked.
"Yes." Replied Linh, "I'm sorry, but we don't have close contact with our parents any more and they weren't able to come." Linh exclaimed.
The doctor nodded his head in understanding.
"We checked Mr. Song for anything like broken bones, and etc. but we were lucky enough to find that the blow of the punch had made no such damage. Sadly, the fall backwards after the punch, may have caused a problem." The doctor slowly remarked, a pained expression on his face.
We all looked at him eagerly.
"I'm sorry, really, but I think Mr. Song may have lost his hearing,"
Linh POV:
I couldn't believe it.
I let out a small laugh.
"You have to be joking right? Tam couldn't have lost his hearing?" I said, panic rising in my voice.
"I'm sorry Ms. Song but theirs nothing we can do for your brother. It looks like he has some hearing still but it may worsen and eventually go completely."
I wasn't sure how to react, but in my head I was silently cursing, which was unlike me.
"I-Is there anything I can do?" The words were hard to get out of my mouth but if Tam was going deaf then I had to be the best sister and do my best to support him.
"Well, in the worst case of him losing his hearing completely, you will need to learn sign language. So I recommend learning it before it has to be used, and it may be easier for Tam to understand after he learns how to speak in sign language as well," the doctor proclaimed " I am not forcing you to do anything but I say this as a mere recommendation. "
" I understand. I will try my best to do the best so Tam can ease into his new life without too much stress." I said nodding.
