2: Crackle and Crunch of Dried Mud

There was a time when there was just a shell of land. Although, you could argue that it wasn't even land. After the Star burned and brought light to the world, a huge planet was discovered. Earth, the Star called it. This 'Earth' was covered and caked in bog. There was nothing but deep rich mud. It was empty, and the great big star stared upon the empty land for decades with crippling loneliness. Brown bogs, brown land, an ugly smear in the universe the Star had worked so hard to save.

If it had known what was waiting for it under the darkness, the Star wouldn't have burned the beasts or melted the shadows. The Star overflowed with loneliness and regret. Although, one day, while curling up to rest and dimming its glow, it had a magnificent idea.

"I brought light to this world," the Star murmured. "I could create my own company if I wanted to." And so, after rising in all its fiery glory in the morning, it wished itself a friend.
Blinking with big fiery eyes, a little girl appeared in front of her.

The little girl ran across the Earth, laughing. She could see The Star hovering high above her, watching over its only companion with amusement at her niavë joy. The girl waved at the Star, then continued to run across the bog. Strands of her fiery hair, hot as infernos, struck the bog mud and dried it underneath her. Flames dotted the boring earth, drying the mud. Whenever she hit a particular burnt spot, she could hear the crackle of cooked and cracking mud underneath her feet.

The Star couldn't near the Earth without cooking it into a crisp, but the girl sure could. She only contained flames on her hair, and those were much weaker than the blinding ones of the Star.

She had been running for a very long time- the prickle of cold on her arms told her the sun was slowly descending and leaving the world to the monsters at night. She pushed the idea to the back of her mind, wanting to enjoy the last moments of running.

She had high stamina, an almost otherworldly speed, and these combined contributed to her love of such speedy canter. The spit of flames, crack of mud, and the burn in her lungs was something she fell in love with. It was disappointing when she had to go rest with the Star, but it always brightened her to know she would go back in the morning to run again.

She could suddenly hear the stir of dark monsters, feel the intense gaze of the Star upon her speeding figure. The Star stretched and yawned, pausing itself from its slow descent to call her. As the girl turned her head to look at it, she could see the sky painted with hundreds of beautiful colors, and it was breathtaking- the Star never stopped at a chance to show off. "Come on, Plasma! You don't want the monsters to eat you in a bite, do you?"

Plasma stopped, feeling disappointment and definitely expressing it in her face, but followed the Star to the sleeping place below the Earth.
