Chapter 7: Doubts

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!"

In the Utsukame compound, we can hear a group of mob shouting in front of a building, that building happen to be the CSA, well the ruined version of it.

Thankfully, the bunker is intact, thus the commander in chief of foreigner operation and the clan security is here, and also the clan head.

The Commander Gokoku Utsukame, known with the code name "Nezu", is a childhood friend with Takahisa Utsukame. Young, Gokoku was more mature than everybody else in his clan leading to him being viewed as " special", excluding the main branch of the family, and this led to Takahisa viewing him as a friend from a young age.

But due to certain circumstances, their relationship became rocky at best.

"It was the best course of action Takahisa, no one was available at that time to conduct a recon mission." Replied Gokoku, the men somehow calm and collected, he somehow also seem bored.

Takahisa, still mad about the fact that he send the heir, no his son, to the front line, he yelled "What do you mean!? Sending the heir and also inexperienced agents to the front to battle an experienced Shinobi seems like a rational order to you!? Did you at least think of the consequences of him being captured?!"

Gokoku frowned at his old friend, "don't involve feelings into this Takahisa, you know more than I do that Izaku knew what his obligation was as an agent of the clan, he knew what it takes the the moment he joined the agency." Just as he saw Takahisa was about to summon another fit, he spoke again "yes, I do recognise my mistake here, I was just afraid of the enemies attacking the compound, I wanted at least to spot them before sending reinforcements to cut them down. You know the stories, what they did when cornered at uzuchio..."

This, brought silence in the room, Takahisa also felt a little bit of dread creeping at his heart at the mentions of Uzumaki last stand on Uzuchio, and he didn't doubts one bit that they will do it again if cornered again.

After all, the Uzumaki's are reputed to being stubborn as a mule, somehow similar to the killers of his family in his pas life.

Takahisa sighed, he muttered, "Dear God," then sat in silence as they tried to think of the next course of action, Gokoku seems about to speak but got  interrupted, "I will send a messenger to the noodle Daimyo to bring on reinforcement, it's time for them to pay their debt's."

At this Gokoku perked up then frowned, he said in all seriousness, "Takahisa, please reconsider your decision, we can't risk the outside world to know about us, what if their troupes has spies from other countries, what if he were to decide that we are no longer dangerous then-"

"Gokoku! What are you rambling about? We have confidential documents about corruption, human traffic, involvement in the anti Uzumaki coalition and lot of other documents that can lead to their annihilation, or at least, a hole in their reputation. And I will not request more than a squad of samurai, we will also blackmail the daimyo to keep them mouth shut. " Reprimanded Takahisa, he didn't understand why he objected to this, he seemed... Worried, he should know more than others how beneficial this reinforcement could be.

Not only they will boost their numbers, but also can be used when the Uzumaki decide to choose freedom instead of life.

But somehow, Gokoku looked worried, mad even. Takahisa knew him since they were kids,he was intelligent and logical, he must understand his point, right?

Then why is he like that?

Takahisa started to feel worried, since the start of the conflict, the Uzumaki's seems to know exactly where they were about to strike, they have equipment that rivaled their own, training that they seems to almost rival theirs.

And now, an Uzumaki bypassed seals, genjutsu, and sensing units in the compound, it was... Impossible without being spotted.

But possible if he was given entry to the compound in the first place.

So there must be a mole in their ranks.

And what dreaded Takahisa the most, was that his childhood friend is the mole.

After all, there is a reason why he is the black sheep of the Utsukame...

And even then, Takahisa gave him another chance, even if his deceased father decided otherwise at first.

He was released from prison, for disobeying the rules and involve feelings in duty, which cost 8 of their most experienced operators.

So he was brought back on duty to redeem himself, he rose in the ranks, proved himself, and in 8 years, he became the head of the newly founded CSA and the creation of the TIER system, which was more reliable than the traditional training and ranking shinobi system bought.

And that, benefited the clan from this so much that Takahisa forgave him and let him keep the position.

It was impossible for him to turn on the clan, he swore fidelity, he redeemed himself.

It was just not possible for him to betray them... Right?
