[A/N Thank you for continues support. This is my favorite chapter yet. TW there is a brief insinuation of physical abuse.]

2 days later

The morning after Wednesday's movie night with Enid she woke up to the sound of someone saying, "Wednesday wake up!" It was Enid. The blond profusely thanked her for spending time with her and never hanging up. "Thank you for being my best friend," she had said.

As promised Wednesday had asked mother and father if she could have Enid stay with them for a while. Their questions were overwhelming but she kept her answers short and vague. "She is just having a hard time at home." Wednesday had responded to her parents. Gomez and Morticia had made arrangements for Enid to come by train the following day. She was to be picked up at the train station by Lurch.

Now Wednesday sat in her room in the Addams Family mansion. Enid had just texted her letting her know she was about an hour away. The reality of the situation was setting in. Wednesday begins rushing around the room cleaning, adding fresh blankets to the bed, and adding fresh linens to the bathroom.

She was again feeling that panic from the other night. The panic she still couldn't quite understand. Why was she so nervous to have Enid come and stay with her? This was her roommate. The only person outside of her family she felt any sort of semblance of comfortability with. She couldn't help but feel like it had something to do with genuinely caring for the other girl. She hated to think if it was so painfully obvious to her, that it might be just as obvious to Enid. She didn't want the other girl to know that she wasn't as indifferent as she tried to let on.

Thing scurries into the room giving Wednesday a wave before stopping and tap tap tapping. You look less miserable than usual. Are you okay?

"Yes. I am fine," Wednesday pauses, "Do you ever... Should I...um I really..." Wednesday stops again.

Your lack of composure is concerning. Is it Enid? Thing signs

"No! God no," Wednesday says firmly, really trying to convince herself more than Thing.

You're a bad liar. You always have been. Thing signs

"Okay. So it might be Enid. How do I help Enid through the stuff that she is going through without her thinking I like her," Wednesday says, "I hate being nice but with her I can't help it and then I overcompensate and I'm too mean then it all kind of gets muddled. I just don't know..."

Thing taps out a longer message, Maybe don't try so hard. Be yourself, she already knows the kind of person you are. Do what feels right. And don't push the world away just because you think that's the way it's supposed to be.

Wednesday just nodes her head.

___

Wednesday opens her phone to read the message Enid had just sent her.

Enid Sinclair: I think I'm like a minute away. Me and Lurch are all chummy already. He doesn't say much but I think he likes me.

Wednesday makes her way down the grand staircase that leads to the entrance of the Addams Family mansion. She opens the front door and sees the family car entering the gate and pulling up to the front of the house. The car doesn't even come to a complete stop before Enid Sinclair jumps out the back seat of the car and runs towards Wednesday.

"Wednesday!!" Enid exclaims, wrapping her arms around the shorter girl and pulling her close. Wednesday hesitates before also wrapping her arms around Enid as well. Wednesday's head rests on Enid's shoulder. Enid is wearing a horrid pink, red, orange fluffy sweater. The material feels nice on Wednesday's chin and she can smell the other girl's shampoo. "Weds, I missed you sooooooo fucking much," Enid mumbles into Wednesdays ear before pulling away.
