It was in the middle January and I was finishing up my last assignments for my job. I checked the weather and it was 13 degrees out, I knew I'd have to take a shorter walk home in order to not get sick from the fridge outdoors. I gone to my maps and searched up a shortcut, the gps lit up a road, a road that I've been told about... apparently people shouldn't go down that road at night because it's know to have drug addicts and prostitutes littering it, but I was willing to take the risk anyways. I got off my office chair and grabbed my coat, I preceded to walk down the hallways to the front door. I stood there as the automatic doors opened and let the freezing cold air touch me. I shivered a bit from the sudden impact but i gathered myself and began down my new route.
Walking down the road was no easy task, besides it being a dirt backroad with barely any lights it was also decorated it glass shards and needles, I swore I saw a few blood stains near any light poles. I became sketched out and kinda slowed my pace, just to check my surroundings a bit, I haven't seen anything. I keep walking and I gradually get faster, I want to go home, I don't want to be here. I begin to see another street light up ahead, the hope this one dingy, nasty, old light gave me was unbelievable. I jogged the rest of the way to the light and took a break, I looked around again and I saw something sparkle in the woods in front of me, like a slight glare beaming from the trees right at me. I became confused and thought maybe it was just some teens with a flashlight but how I thought wrong, the beam got closer and I realized it wasn't a light but a broken pair of glasses, worn by a man dressed in tattered clothes and a shaggy appearance. In his hand I saw a knife, dripping of blood, now I noticed the blood speckled all over him. Fear took over me, it was flight or fight and I chose flight. I began to haul ass. I heard man chasing me, his footsteps sounding closer with each second. Suddenly I felt it, right through my back as a sharp pain filled my body... I gasped, shooting up out of my bed I looked around but I winced in pain as I felt a pain in my back, I twisted a bit and felt bandages pulling and tugging with my every move, I lie back down and stare into my ceiling, questioning how I got home and who helped me, so many questions unanswered but one, why I shouldn't go on that road.
